It's a communal computer. We have only two computers in the place, and while technically only the lead agents are supposed to use them, there is no actual work to be done until 30 minutes prior to the aircraft landing. So if the lead agents (myself and one other) don't need them, they're fair game for facebook, youtube, and HBT, depending on who gets to it first.

Now I just close the browser completely if I need to step away.

A new hire? Fawk that, sounds like someone needs to learn their place.

I tried doing the same to him, but facebook wouldnt allow me to post the links I was going to have revenge with. Now that he's caught on that HIS accounts are now fair game, perhaps he'll cut it out.

Just hired a guy, and he will post **** updates for you if you walk away from the computer with Facebook open, even for a minute.

CSB: In the mid-'90s, when Internet access was kind of new, it was an unwritten rule that if you walked away and left your workstation unlocked, it was fair game for someone to pop in and email a cute nastygram to a few others. It was all fun and games until it escalated to where some guy sent out porn--to the entire engineering group (including the VP). It didn't take long to identify the culprit. HR came to his cube and frog-marched the guy to the door.

She had gone through and deleted the file extension off of every single one of her saved files, because she thought the file names "looked better" without all those "gibberish letters at the end". She had no idea why those were important.

The fact that she had the time to rename hundreds of files tells me she needs more work to do.

I work in an office of about 27-30 people and in the particular group I'm in, I work with 4 other females around my age (28). I love them to death, but there's one thing I can't stand.....they talk and laugh way too loud. One of them has a loud guffaw that's high pitched and it always gets to me. Part of the annoying thing is they get mad when people are ear-hustling them. In my head, I'm like, "well we are in a quiet office, so anything you say or whenever you laugh especially like how you guys do, anyone can hear it."

I love them though. It's just tough when I get lumped into the trouble just because I'm part of the group.

The last 2 days I've been busy as hell out of the office, and when I finally do get back to my desk to do my charting, my boss leaves me a post it that someone called with some lab results. He knows how busy I am, yet just leaves me a note instead of charting the information. I'm not your ****ing secretary, write the damn note when you take the phone call! He's had his legs kicked up on his desk while playing on his phone all month yet doesn't have a minute to chart something?

Ah yes, I remember those days. The internet I'm on now is actually reminiscent of the 14.4 kbps modem speeds.

I get about 13 kbps when I'm trying to download things.

To heck with that. Open the drawing, Select All, and Explode (multiple times). And then a full save (not a quick save)

I always fount it more entertaining to hide desktop files, the task bar then change the desktop image to a screen capture of the normal desk top then watch the clicking fun and frustration begin.

A few years back, a coworker of mine was able to grab a screenshot of another coworker's desktop, background, icons & all; then he hid all the icons on the actual desktop & set the screenshot as the screen saver.
Everytime the guy moved the mouse, all his icons would disappear, you should've seen the frustration & worry! Of course, I didn't help by telling him "It might be a virus." His workday was delayed by a few hours, he was convinced he was responsible for downloading a virus & the computer was ruined. A few hours later, when he was at lunch, The instigator put everything back to normal. I don't think anybody ever told the guy about the joke, but the rest of us had quite a few laughs over it.

A co-worker several years ago pried several keys off his supervisor's keyboard and transposed them. Said supervisor was a "hunt and peck" typist who apparently did not know the location of the keys and called an electronic tech because every time he hit the "d" key an "f" would appear.

I would have lost money betting nobody would fall for that.

A co-worker who I've written about in the past decided to fall asleep in his office last Friday after lunch.
When I left at 5, he was still asleep in his desk chair.

I talked to another guy this morning, who has been coming in on Saturday mornings and cleaning the office, to make some extra cash. Apparently nobody woke the dude up when they left Friday. When the guy came in to clean Saturday morning, he said his car was still here, building door was unlocked, and he was curled up asleep on his office floor. He said he went about cleaning the office and just before he left at around 10am, he woke him up so he could vacuum his office. He said he got up off the floor and went out to his car and went home, like it was no big deal.

The man was asleep for 20 hours in an office!!!!!

So maybe this is more of a "Brett has a conscience" thing, but my coworkers are horrible with actually being at work 40 hours a week. The project I am on its near impossible to accomplish any work remotely. Maybe there is an hour or two per week that could be handled outside the office. So how then do my coworkers hit 40 hours a week when the come in at 9 and leave at 3?

They don't.

Then there is the guy who didn't show up on Monday and none of the managers noticed... Don't know if he had an excuse or told everyone. Same guy conveniently has to "work from home today" (friday) cause of plumbing issues at his house (remember its not possible to accomplish anything remotely).

Problems is I have been on the team the longest and know the software insde and out so everyone comes to ask me questions. I overslept one day and didn't make it in until 10 and everyone wondered where I was...fml

OK, end of rant. I need a beer

More of the same today... Guy is conveniently out sick today. I looked back at emails and he has gotten sick once a month at the end of the month the past three months in a row, always a Monday or Friday...

My boss and my subordinate coworker are having closed door meetings about who knows what (probably drama and gossip), then she sits in her office all day not doing her job, not giving directions to the people under her, and then I get in trouble for things not getting done. If I tell her that she needs to do something I get: "Oh I'm working on something special for the supervisor."

They have their own special little clique and my other coworker and I are left to pick up the slack while these two office monkeys sit at their computers and complain about how hard their jobs are. The boss plays favorites, the coworker is a diva who can't be bothered. I get zero direction, make up my own work and then get chewed for not doing what my boss wanted.

He will lie and say he told me to do things, that he never mentioned, and then chew my a** out for not following his imaginary instructions.

The worst part is, there's nothing I can do about it! It's all my word vs his.

10 years of this crapchute! I'm done.

Anyone hiring in the Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Colorado, Montana area? Will work for fair wages with the possibility of upward mobility, decent human being for a boss, some kind of benefits, and beer.
