we have the same problem where I work. company pays for all our consumables: gloves, welding tips, cones, safety glasses, welding jackets, face shields, welding hoods, cover lenses, etc...
when I started for the company, I brought my pancake hood instead of using a standard they provide. my hood takes the 2 1/4"x4" lens (inside & outside). they got me a box of 100 and it lasted me over a year. now they're replacing all the standard hoods with ones that take my small lens on the inside. the 5-6 guys that have this new hood have already gone through around 300 in the last 3 months. these are also the same guys that won't use nozzle dip or or clean their tips/cones/insulators. the guy that works in my area at night can go through 3-4 tips a night. I can make 1 tip last for 2 weeks of heavy welding. before they set the glove limit on the vending machine, a lot of these guys were getting a new pair every 2 days. limit is now set to 1 pair every 7 days. and the fancy sanding discs get thrown away when they're still good. I used the used ones only for 2 weeks to use them up.
