I recently purchased a wine thief and haven't figured out if I like it or not. So far so good though.

My question here is: I use starsan and wanted to know if I need to wait until the starsan dries completly or go with the normal rule and not fear the foam? I only ask as I am curious to if it could throw of the hydrometer readings.

Use it wet. You only need to have contact with the starsan for a couple of min for it to do its job. It won't throw off your hydrometer, at least not that you could notice. If the foam bothers you, you could rinse with some 40% ethanol (Vodka), which destroys the foam.

Cool... I don't mind it being wet - I just didn't want to throw off the readings.

I use mine wet/foamy and i've never noticed any foam making it's way into the test jar.
