I was standing right there and I'm not really sure what happened. The overly drunk guy was just lucky the other guy didn't jack him in the mouth when he was yelling **** you right in his face.

Lowest turnout I can remember for a R&D beer. Someone popped a bottle of the Sour Porter and it was quite nice. Almost like an Oud Bruin with a little bit of chocolate malt.

Impossible, beer isn't meant for drinking!

Looking forward to not missing this. ISO trustee!

Meerts Release

On July 7th and 8th we will be releasing Meerts!
There are some important changes to how we are handling this release.

First, We split the release into 2 days and will be doing it out of our new Taproom space in Madison, WI!

Second, we are still using BrownPaperTicket, however, this time you will receive a physical ticket. You must bring this ticket to the release to redeem your bottles.

Third, each ticket will purchase 3 bottles of Meerts! Maximum 2 tickets = 6 bottle limit. Bottles are $10/750ml.

Meerts is our modern interpretation on the low alcohol style traditionally derived from the second running of Lambic. It begins with Pilsner malt, raw wheat, and Saaz hops which is brewed using a turbid mash, long boil, and low hopping rate and then fermented in foeders with our wild yeast.

Tickets will be sold on June 20th at Noon.
Go to Brown Paper Ticket!

Simply provide your trustee with the physical ticket and a copy of your valid state ID (eg. Driver's License). The attendee name must match your ID.
DO NOT PUT YOUR TRUSTEE'S NAME AS THE ATTENDEE/BUYER.

If your name is not listed as the attendee, your order will be forfeited without refund. At the release, if your trustee doesn't have a photocopy of an ID that matches the purchaser's name on the attendee list, your order will be forfeited without refund.

If you wish to have your ticket shipped to your trustee:
You must know your trustee's address in advance. Upon checking out, your screen will look like one of the following:
Purchasing 2 tickets
Purchasing 1 ticket
Warning: Brown Paper Ticket has stated this won't conflict with your Credit Card processing, but we make no guarantee, and there is a chance this will prevent you from checking out.

Holy ****, I'm gonna be in Wisconsin July 5-9.

Time to set the reminder to buy some Meerts on June 20th.

Anyone wanna party the 7th or 8th? Going to Brewer game on the 5th, Summerfest (Chris Stapleton & Tom Petty!) on the 6th. Wide open after that.
We might go.

Yeah, I read that article yesterday. I'm guessing it's unlikely to get slipped in as a 999 motion, and I doubt it could pass on its own, but clearly both are possibilities.

I agree with the Distributors' Rep's quote that this would be bad for beer distributors. Not so clear on the Wine and Spirits Distributors. Seems like wine and spirits manufacturers benefit from allowing on-premises to-go sales, but both are small industries in WI.

I'm guessing it's being pushed by the Tavern League. They are flat-out the strongest lobby in the state and are clearly losing business to brewery taprooms, and on an increasing scale.

Will have to keep an eye out for future developments.

Holy ****, talk about a huge bunch of ********. I hate talking politics, but all this ******** of Republican'ts wanting to help small businesses, grow the job market and build the economy would be doing the exact opposite if something like this passes. What's next, another prohibition? Wisconsin's government is keeping it wrong, oh and thanks for Paul Ryan...

(Editor's note: my wife was born and raised in Madison and I love the people just not the idiots running your state...)

For those that didn't take the time to read the whole article:

It’s unclear who is pushing the proposal. The Wisconsin chapter of Americans for Prosperity, a national group backed by the conservative billionaire Koch brothers, obtained a memo laying out the plan’s framework with the acronyms for the tavern league, the Wisconsin Beer Distributors Association and the Wisconsin Wine and Spirit Institute, which represents wine distributors, on top of the first page. AFP’s state director, Eric Bott, declined to say who leaked it.

Nowhere in the article does it say anything about this proposal having the backing or endorsement of anyone. Everyone seems to either deny knowing about it (Tavern League) or flat out opposing it (Brewers Association, Distributors Association).

It came to AFP because Republicans hold all both chambers of the State Legislature and the Governor's office. Whoever drafted the proposal (I still guess it was the Tavern League) wants to get Republican support by pushing it through AFP. Money talks in politics (on both sides of the isle, mind you), and AFP has plenty of it.

Nowhere in the article does it say anything about any Republicans ACTUALLY supporting the proposal. Here is the closest thing that could possibly be misconstrued as "support":

Assembly Speaker Robin Vos reiterated there’s no concrete proposal, but didn’t rule out that something could appear in the 999 motion.

If Democrats controlled the State Government, I suspect this proposal would have similarly gone to whichever Democratic PAC might have the strength to get it passed.

Please read and process the whole article before making inflammatory comments.

I did read the entire article, will gladly make assumuptions and it's the internet, so I can say whatever I want. Also unicorns exist and Clay Matthews' hair gives him super powers...

Also, I personally don't agree with a lot of what happens in the WI legislature, so please don't construe this as support for my Republican State Government. That said, I find it so hilariously ironic that you are bad-mouthing Wisconsin's government, while the state you live in is (for all intents and purposes) bankrupt, hasn't been unable to pass a budget for the last 3 years, and basically has a junk credit rating. But hey, beer.

Oh, I am well aware of it and don't like it, but again all I have to say the name Paul Ryan. Anyways, I hope nothing comes of any of this as I enjoy my visits and friends that live in your state. I can't stand politics in general, having been a Chicagoan my entire life, I loathe the Democratic machine running my city. In the end, they all suck...

Side note, anyone else hitting Summerfest Thursday and want to touch tips?

Yayayaya lets do it, I'm super geeked. elkhunter36 and I already talking about meeting up in the Third Ward for before the show. Let's all party. One variable is when Dr. Carroll (my date/other ticket for Chris Stapleton/Tom Petty) is going to arrive, she said either late night on the 5th or early on the 6th. . . I dunno what 'early' means or if she is working some 24 hour shift or whatnot, brb asking deets if I need to pick up from airport or whatnot. . .

I definitely wanna check out the other daytime activities at Summerfest before the headliners go on (I haven't been since 2005). I dunno if that is gonna conflict w/ all the people who aren't wanting to go down memory lane.

Is everyone on the Chris Stapleton train? I have not been this jazzed about "new" music since, like, **** I dunno, Jane's Addiction as a teenager? Just that **** that when you hear it you're just like "**** yes, this rules, every, damn, song."

So I forgot to set up a trustee for the Meerts release. Got the tickets in the mail and it reminded me... Any chance somebody here can help out? Will provide box, label, thank you beers, etc.

It looks like elkhunter36 has you covered for Saturday-- I can help if you have Friday tickets. I live about ten minutes away from FFG so I can help on Saturday too if something changes. Happy to trustee for others and can also hold for any FIBs, etc that will be coming up/over/down for Great Taste.

This year's look for summerfest is underage girls, lace shirt, no bra, and middle aged men and women with unfortunate tattoos. The best beer you can hope for is Leine IPL, unless Lakefront got much better sice I last tried them. The shows have been solid as has the water. Many midwestern fried goodies for you to get fat on.

This has been a plague everywhere this summer. Not cool.

Summerfest plagues > Egyptian plagues

"Release the Israelites or I shall release bewbs from all your first born daughters at Summerfest."

Are we talking girls so young you couldn't even legally "plague" with their ****s?

I'm out.

You can't even assume they are fair game in Wisconsin if you see them with beer. It's legal for parents to purchase a beer and hand it to their kids. #drinkwisconsibly
