This year's look for summerfest is underage girls, lace shirt, no bra, and middle aged men and women with unfortunate tattoos. The best beer you can hope for is Leine IPL, unless Lakefront got much better sice I last tried them. The shows have been solid as has the water. Many midwestern fried goodies for you to get fat on.

sounds like pretty much every Summerfest i've ever been to

It's be longer for me (since before kids), but this year's line-up is top notch in my estimation. Hope Hanson gives you a good show.
I was a little concerned they would be jet lagged. They came straight to Wisconsin from New Zealand (finishing the first leg of a world tour -US doesn't start til the fall). They came out guns blazing and did a set with no acoustic, no ballads, so it was all upbeat songs the whole set. I ran out of energy before they did. A+ I hope everyone else going the rest of the fest has as much fun as I did.

So usually when music writers writing about them aren't fans they get basic facts about the history of the band wrong. They must have used a good press release because they got all of the facts about the band right, but there are glaring errors in the set list including a song title that is so wrong I cannot figure out what song they actually played between MMMBop and Fired Up but "Need You Now" is a fan club release that is incredibly slow and lovely but was definitely not played last night.

But I am glad they enjoyed themselves.

EDIT: I am a moron. "If Only" while oft forgotten was reasonably popular in ye olde TRL days. Member TRL? Member Carson Daly?

EFIT 2: my superfan is showing. I'll see myself out.

Just came across this thread. Anyone in the madison area and going to the meerts release willing to proxy? I bought tickets only to find that the beer site i usually frequent no longer allows proxy requests on their forums. Thought i was sol, but it seems like its more open here. Im currently on a 6 week road trip to the west coast. Im sure i can pick something up to sweeten the deal. Ill be in madison for great taste so i could pick up the bottles then.

Got to check out Funk Factory Geuzeria today for the first time since levifunk opened up the taproom a few weeks back.

The Meerts was fantastic and the variations that were on draft were equally interesting.

Didn't know I was sitting next to you but I'll be sure to say hello next time. Cheers

Man I love Wisconsin. The place, the people, the beer and beer drinkin games, the golf, the porches, the polka dancing, the fishing, the biergartens, the farms. . . you guys have it so good.

Was literally feeling my eyes welling up in the shower this morning. The dread of returning to work after being gone for almost 2 weeks, after spending all that time with people you love like family, dare I say as much or even more in one instance. I barely made it back on the plane, was seriously googling **** like "what happens when a 41 yo runs away from home?"

I don't think I'm going to be able to wait until 2019 to come back. This might have to be an annual thing.

******* love Wisconsin. Especially Madtown. It's been 3 months since I've set foot in Wisco and even longer in Madison. I need to get up there soon. Haven't been to Milwaukee since 2014.

Its even cooler now that there is a Hopcat on State Street. Just a little chill haven in the middle of partytown w/ 130 taps . . .

Was just kind of the near perfect day Friday. I was on only 2 hours of sleep after an insanely awesome and sweaty Summerfest and its aftermath/afterparty, got up on such a natural high, cruised up to the Heitman course, had a few beers, played decent, bought a few new discs, met up w/ one of my best buds from Marquette, crushed all the tap stuff at Funkatorium, squared away gifts for peeps back home. Hit up State Street and then found Madtown has a Hopcat now. Coffee Bender on tap and watching the Brewers beat up the Yankees w/ my dude best fraaaan. Made it back to the hotel around 1am, drank a FFF in the room, was in bed by 2am. . . and up by 7am for breakfast and then golf @ Elver before we headed back out to Milwaukee for our awesome beirgarten Saturday @ Estabrook.

I need this in my life.

Spending the week in the Northwoods and will be passing through Green Bay around lunch tomorrow. Recommendations for a place to get a good bite and a beer or two not available in FIBland?

Come back in the winter and we'll see if you still feel this way about Wisconsin!

Oh I've spent 4 winters there, I'm in the know.

Pros: Marquette basketball, Packer football, Admirals hockey, shanty ice fishing, snowmobiles, Fuel chili, Lake Michigan polar plunge, winter disc golf = It could happen if I could combine one of those (preferably MU bball) with a Dr. visit ("the" Dr. if you will).

Cons: the "skiing" sucks, the hi temps suck (lows are the same here, it just warms up during the day), the lack of sun/sunlight sucks, the parking sucks, **** don't melt, **** yo Lake wind, etc. . .

Campus is always beautiful w/ snow

damn. missed this until today.

did you stop here and grab beer + food?

New R&D release! How long do those tend to stick around? Given that it's not fruited and such :)

It will be available for several hours both Friday and Saturday, if not all day. Other than that, they'll pull it from shelves and release it at inflated prices in the future.
