Apparently Enigma's hitting Madison today. Hopefully not too far behind in MKE.

Didn't care for it last year. I assume that it uses Oud Bruin as base. Oud Bruin b1 kind of sucked, tasted metallic, as did Enigma 2016 (and BBBB for that matter).

Oud Bruin b2 was fantastic which has me excited for this year's batch of Enigma.

Eagle Park Brewing, 2018 S. 1st St., is Milwaukee's tiniest brewery with what could be the city's smallest taproom.

Directions to the taproom don't intentionally mimic a speakeasy; it just feels that way. To get to the second-floor location of the Lincoln Warehouse where Eagle Park is located, go to the door with the blue light above it and press the buzzer. A voice leads visitors to the second floor.

Inside, a gently used leather sofa — as advertised on Craigslist — welcomes visitors from across the room. On the other side are two modern chairs. The official capacity is 49 patrons. Steps away is the bar, its glossy black subway tile illuminated by rope lighting that peeps out from under the bar top.

Jackson and Max Borgardt spent years brewing in the garage of the New Berlin house where they grew up, even providing brews for a holiday Christmas party thrown by their parents. This year, the brothers, along with Jake Schinker, took over the Lincoln Warehouse spot abandoned by Enlightened Brewery, which moved to a larger facility on the building's first floor.

Jackson Borgardt calls it "a corner bar meets taproom meets speakeasy."

Much of the décor came from artists and creatives in the building, which includes businesses as varied as The MINIclassy, makers of high-end clothing for kids; a metalsmith; and Racestart personal training.

"There's a dude for everything in this building," Max Borgardt said.

But it's not a taproom until you spy reclaimed wood. Oh, there it is, above the bar — a textured centerpiece made of old pallet wood, which sets off the dark gray wall color. Two windows look out below — one with a view of the former Horny Goat brewpub and a larger one with an eye on traffic.

The name Eagle Park is a riff off Eagle Trace, the street near the home where the brothers were raised and the band they front when they're not making beer. Black acoustic tiles on the walls are framed by concert posters that the band of brothers has collected. Max Borgardt shows off the sound system which is, as expected, professional-band quality but kept at a lower decibel than, say, one of their shows.

In late 2016, the Borgardts and Schinker began brewing on a half-barrel system in the room next door.

The eight tap lines are synced to beers in the brewery's cooler. The plan calls for a Loop Station, a golden ale with agave nectar, lime peel and sea salt. It's currently on tap at The Explorium Brewpub in Greendale. Eagle Park also has Line Check, a Brown Porter; Immortal Soul, made with five different hops; Set List IPA; Amber; a stout; and an Oatmeal Brown Ale.

When Eagle Park opens its taproom to the public, likely this month, the hours will be 3 to 10 p.m. Saturdays only. They expect to add to the schedule as they ramp up production.

Eagle Park has plans to add a Frequent Flyer membership program and host tap parties when they open to the public. Beers will cost $6 for pints and $3 for small pours.

These two beauties came through the packaging line today! Rye Barrel Chocolate Porter will hit distribution in the next week or two. The newest beer out of our barrel aging program is Rye Barrel Stout - an American Stout aged three years in rye bourbon barrels. We do not have enough of the Rye Barrel Stout for distribution - so it will only be available at the brewery starting this Friday!

Hi <3

can FIBS make it that far north on Friday?

does it even make sense to try and go on Saturday afternoon?

We have two beer announcements this week!

Today is the first packaging run of Rift - our new IPA. This has been a pet project of our head brewer and the beer has an amazing aroma from a ton of late addition hops and dry hopping with Simcoe, Citra, and Amarillo hops. Milwaukee and Central Wisconsin - the trucks are heading to your distributor tomorrow!

Also, the latest beer off of our pilot system - a bourbon barrel aged vanilla bean stout! This is a new stout recipe that we aged for 1 1/2 years in bourbon barrels and added vanilla beans to! We don't have much of this so it will only be available on draft at the brewery - it will not be available for growlers or crowlers
