I've seen moe. a dozen times in my previous life. They just jam. Some of my friends think they noodle, and I can see that, but they jive with me for some reason. Gonna take rhe whole family over there and bring Arlo to his first show.
We will not say how many times I think I have seen Hanson in my life. I stopped counting after ten or so, but in a banner year of following them last year, I hit 16 shows in 13 months across 4 countries, so I will just suffice it to say a lot.

what is it about Hanson that resonates with you trickytunadicky ?
I did get into them as a teenager, but unlike, say, the Backstreet Boys who I pretty much stopped following after college, Hanson are roughly my age, they write their own stuff, so a lot of their lyrics have resonated with my life experiences, and they put on a really fun show. They grew up listening to the same music I did (mom and dad's classic rock and Motown collection), so they have a heavy classic rock and Motown influence. Rick Nielsen and Bun E. Carlos came and closed a show in Chicago with them once - they finaled with I Want You to Want Me. It was the same year Taylor did Tinted Windows with Bun E Carlos. (They are featured on Greetings from Bunezuela that just came out, too)

They actually got better as a band after going independent (You can look up Anthem, Shout it Out and Underneath on Spotify/ Amazon Prime / whatever your streaming of choice if curious) Plus, I tend to gravitate toward stuff I can sing along with. I gave up any illusions of "oh my god I am going to marry one!" about the time I was 17 because they are super Christian and have values that remind me a bit too much of the conservative town I grew up in (so many kids!), but they were fun to chat beer with, as despite putting out a mass market Pale Ale that would be right at home as any restaurant's house beer, two of them are quite into craft beer and cocktails. They like Three Floyds a lot. Zac is an ace at in person trolling, which is hilarious to watch at the resort events. How I got to see them so many times is they play double shows in Chicago whenever they tour and the set list is significantly different each night (they change maybe 10% on a given night, but for the double shows it's like 40%), so I have always gotten tickets to both. They aren't expensive shows. Then in 2014 I found a friend to start rooming together with at the resort shows, so that's another 6 shows bundled, and once I had a buddy to travel with that was there for the music, we decided to hit 2 cities on the tour they did last year, which every city was a double show. Had a blast. I have more vacation time now, so we'll see how much damage I will do when they world tour next year.

tl;dr: I like their style of music, they put on good shows and they are the kind of people I would want to hang out with at a party, but that's it.

If any of you 'Scahnsonites haven't made it to the Bavarian Bierhaus in Glendale yet, I highly recommend it as a lunch stop the next time you're in the Milwaukee area. Very, very good food - we tried a couple different schnitzels, spaetzle, pierogis, and mettwurst, all were excellent. Reasonable prices, staff was friendly and great with the kids, and ridiculously spacious.\

Their house-brewed dunkel though...

Holy ****, that beer was delicious. Light & smooth, a little toasty, a bit of malty sweetness, with just enough bitterness to balance things out...I will probably have dreams about this beer.

Yes, it's a fun place. For dinner they usually have a round of Masskrugstemmen and some chicken dancing. Friday Fish Fry is real good (the potato pancake being the only flaw in an otherwise wonderful meal).

Any recommendations on lodging for our trip to Bayfield at the end of August? We were hoping to camp, but I think for everyones sake, a hotel with the lil guy will be best. Don't mind driving a little bit after the show, as I won't be getting ham'd up

MillerCoors
has just announced the Wisconsin Pak, which will be on store shelves in Wisconsin only beginning August 1, 2016. Dubbed the Heavy Load of Cold, the Wisconsin Pak contains 60 twelve ounce cans of Coors Light. The reason for the new packaging? Coors Light recently overtook Bud Light as the #1 selling beer in the state.

When asked if the 60 can packaging will be offered in other states, MillerCoors noted, “Collectively, no other citizens drink beer like Wisconsin’s. It would end up being on the shelf too long to be practical. By comparison, the Wisconsin consumer will drink a 60-pack in little more than a week.”

Step up your game, New Glarus. Lets see 64 pack of Spotted Cow!

In Madison for the weekend. Does Black Husky get much distro in town? I saw a couple of bombers at Steve's on mineral point earlier but no dates so didn't want to pull the trigger on the white IPA.

Black Husky gets good distro around town, but Tim hasn't come around lately. He's been busy building out his new place in Milwaukee.

Unfortunately Black Husky doesn't bottle date... but Dan is pretty good at keeping his stock fresh. (I'm a buyer at a different Steve's.) The White IPA is from ~2 months ago or so.

Thanks for the info

Had a great trip north this weekend to grab bottles from the Funk Factory / O'So release and just wanted to share a few pictures of the trip.

Summer is flying by and it’s almost time for the next R&D release of the year! This will be the second of three of Dan’s Limited Releases held at the brewery on August 12 & 13. LaFortuna Pizza will be here on Friday and Saturday serving up their fantastic wood fired pizza (beginning at around 9:00 a.m.).
Champ du Blanc is a delightful blend of aged sour blonde ale and Chardonnay Grapes. Champ du Blanc was spontaneously fermented in our Wild Fruit Cave through the winters of 2015 and 2016.
At the release on August 12 & 13, there will be a limited number of bottles available each day. There will be two bottle per person per day limit. The cost will be $10 per bottle and include tax, cash is appreciated, but not necessary. Sales will begin no later than 9:00 a.m. Valid US Photo IDs or international passports are required and will be scanned.
The final special release will be held on September 23 & 24 (Octoberfest in the village of New Glarus).

Next weekend, my wife and I are dropping off the kid at his grandparents and then proceeding to give a metaphorical middle finger to the title of this thread so we can spend a few days in New Glarus. Obviously the brewery will be a stop but I'm looking for other suggestions, especially regarding food. We'll be heading through Lake Geneva and Delavan on our way. Any thoughts?

If you haven't ever eaten at Glarner Stube in New Glarus (literally about 2 miles from the brewery), please do so and thank me later. Amazing German / Austrian / Swiss food with better beer options than the brewery at a cheaper price.

Medusa in Lake Geneva. Beer selection is meh, but the food is phenomenal.

Hernandez in Delevan is some of the best Mexican food in Walworth Co.

Cow and Quince: farm to table, delicious.

Glarner Stube in New Glarus is a must. Sugar River pizza is good but I don't want to start some Chicago pizza beef. Nice beer there, too.

Glarner Stube is legitimately one of the best restaurants I've ever been to.

This Yooper is about to head south (and West) and into your great state this upcoming Wednesday. I will be heading to Bayfield, and will be stopping at Star Liquor in Ashland...anything new and exciting I should be looking for? Also, anything else up in that area that is worth stopping at? Even a half way dingy bar with a single decent tap would be fine with us. Cheers and thanks!

Thanks to all the advice from folks. My wife and I had a really nice weekend in the NG area. Managed to snag one of the last 4 packs of Zwickel they had out, which is awesome. Also loved Smoke on the Porter. Glarner Stube was solid but the food highlight was the suggestion from howL to hit Cow & Quince. Their "savory french toast" was legitimately one of the best things I've ever eaten for breakfast. Garlic maple syrup is my new obsession...
