Next New Glarus Thumbprint: Old Bruin. Ships next week.

From The Facebook:

Oud Bruin is available in our Beer Depot starting today! Our Brewmaster Dan Carey launched his Wild Fruit Cave this winter brewing Oud Bruin, a Flanders style ale that is immensely complex – both tart and sweet. Soft toffee notes lead with a blend of Wisconsin, British and German malts that first rested in the Coolship before spontaneously fermenting on oak in the cave.

This year, in a similar vein, Deb said New Glarus is releasing two gueuzes -- another spontaneously fermented style - one light and one dark. She didn't have a lot of technical details on them - Dan's the guy for that, and he's out of state at a barley conference - but she did say one of them is fermented with Michigan peaches. She said the tasting samples on that are very good.

"Dark" gueuze, I just went from 6 o'clock to 12...

It's pronounced "Old Brown Dog" and it's by Smuttynose. Mods should move this to New England thread.

From Central Water's Facebook:

"First, mark your calendars, because on Thursday, August 7th, we andThe Sugar Maple in Milwaukee will be having a party to welcome some wonderful Midwestern breweries into our neck of the woods, includingSurly Brewing Company, Toppling Goliath Brewing Co., Perennial Artisan Ales, Indeed Brewing Company, and maybe a couple others. It will be awesome!"

Does that mean perennial is coming to WI? Toppling is expanding distro? Or is there no implications other than some of their kegs are coming to town?

Here's what I heard from my (generally reliable) sources regarding the New Glarus GTMW release, all rumors at this point:
  • Peach only
  • It was in the bottle as of a week or so ago. Not sure when exactly it was bottled,
  • 3 palates of cases, roughly three or four courses high, maybe 13 or so 12-bottle cases per course. 1500 bottles seems like a nice round number
  • Possibly only Saturday release (I don't believe this one, but time will tell).
  • FIBs not welcome to attend

What are the odds there will still be R&D left around 1pm on Friday? I'm in Fondy for work and will be driving back to FIBland Friday morning.

Hard to say exactly, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were leftovers at the end of the day all three days.

Then again, I also wouldn't be surprised if it sold out by noon.

I will be surprised if there are 750 people in New Glarus' parking lot before 10 am.
