Nice stories.

Yea its not gourmet here but we did our best to make everyone full. It was a success

The kicker is that we rent where we live. So this last summer our oven was backfiring regularly...pretty fun seeing a fireball explode from the broiler door. So the land lord cheaped out and got a new oven...its only 24 inches wide on the outside....this oven is so small so we are limited. I would love to fry a turkey but my little one has a peanut allergy so since peanut oil is the best thats out I guess....

Thats nice that your Aunt would kick in some money. My sister and her family come as well and I wouldnt mind if they kicked in a little money but it is what it is. I think next year we will tell people to bring a side dish and dessert.

off to do some stuff...especially since family just left to go to Philly to visit with friends of wife. So I got the house to myself!!

I wanted to get some stuff before it was sold out. I will check back at the 75 off day as well

Rogue 1 was good. I saw it opening night. In IMAX and 3d

I am going to try to grill turkey in future, maybe also smoke them more often. The recipe we use is from Giada De Laurentiis. We stuff the turkey with oranges lemons onions and fresh Rosemary sage and oregano. I'm doing this from memory here so I could be a little off. Then I mix melted butter and olive oil with Herbes de Provence and rub the turkey outside and under skin and let it sit overnight in Saran Wrap.

Alternator hell yesterday, took me too long to figure out how to adjust the tension screw and ahh back hurts

That's a great stuffing for turkey. My Mother-in-law taught me to use citrus in the turkey back when I first married my wife. It adds an interesting perspective to the gravy as well!

A grinding alternator is a sign of miss-alignment between the drive pulley and the generator. It will likely kill the bearings. Is the tension too tight?

So do you guys ferment in plastic or glass??

I use plastic buckets but just had a family member give me 2 old carboys. I want to use them but am scared of cleaning them?? I guess I need a carboy strap or something?

I really want to grab a speidel, just gonna wait till a good ship price comes up from AIH. I got a $10 rewards with them so theres that. Although morebeer has free shipping on the same speidel...

Nico brew also has grab bag of hops I was thinking of...$35 for 4 lbs of a variety....of who knows what?

Here goes another question, we do this lake thing with the RV at a cousins house every 4th of july. So this year he wants a light beer for those that enjoy BMC, my wit beer which we finished quite fast last summer and a good malty beer.

So I saw Yoopers yellow fizzy beer might give that a 3 gallon batch to try out. Then I need a malty one at 5 gallons and am thinking a dunkelweiss....anyone have any good recipes they tried and liked?

I have a Bock that is lagering right now. It was my first lager and I hope it is reasonably malty. I won't be tapping into that until Lent, though so I won't know for sure.

On the third day of Christmas, Wife gave to me:View attachment ImageUploadedByHome Brew1482918075.913389.jpg

Small batches, I ferment in anything. I've got glass Big Mouth bubblers, plastic 2-gallon buckets, glass 1-gallon "carboy" jugs, 1/2-gallon mason jars, etc. But, now that I've got a Pico, almost everything is in a small corny keg. I've got the 1.75 gallon that came with the Pico and I've got a 3 gallon that I bought specifically for a 2.5 gallon batch.
