I was making my second batch of beer I went all out. Liquid Yeast partial mash everything evertyhing was going perfect I put my wort in the fermenter pitched the yeast closed the fermenter pushed the airlock in and the rubber gasket the holds the airlock went plop into the wort. I sterelized a strainer and tried to fish it out to no avail I have no bottling bucket and my carboy is holding a beer. I couldn't think of anything to do so I scrubbed like a doctor and reached in. Everything was going so well. So now I'm praying and waiting for fermentation.

I think almost every person on this board has done that. I did it on my very first batch, but was able to recover it with a spoon.

You should be fine!

<---Here is another who did the same thing on my first batch. I scrubbed my arm as best as I could, reached in and fished it out. The beer came out fine. It is possible that yours has been damaged but it is probably fine.

Relax and have a beer! :)

When I "over hop", I sometimes have to reach into the cooled wort kettle and wipe the crud off of the torpedo filter. Haven't lost one yet because of an OOPS. In fact, the only times (3) I've had to toss a batch, I never did figure out what went wrong.

My brother...I did it too on my first batch. I ended up scrubbing my arm and fishing around. The beer tasted like ass, but that's more to do with my lack of straining the wort.

Live, learn, brew, burp.

This beer is higher gravity about 1.060 I used White Labs California V Ale liquid yeast warmed to room temp. I've had it sitting for about 1.5 hours how long before fermentation should start my first brew went off in about 2 and stopped after about 18. That was in a bit warmer climate though. This time I pitched it at 76 degrees. Right now it's at about 74 or so.
