I don't know the whole story but on principal I agree with them. If wine can be sold direct then beer should have the same right. When this happens and breweries can profit more directly you'll see more businesses opening. The ones contesting it are BMC to be anti competitive. Pisses me off when I'm at a brewery and ido like to take something to go and can't. This is one reason CA and CO and OR are beer meccas and TX isn't.

I think most of us understand and agree with this. That's not the problem. The problem is that DE are just douches who go about it the wrong way. Mouth off on public social networks, crowd fund for expansions when they are an already up and running brewery, some weird stuff with a former head brewer who was highly regarded in the community, ect., ect....

Oh and most of their beer is sub par to me so that doesn't help.

Also Dallas sucks.

Well then. I think I've had some of their well out dated cans sold from Spec's. I don't remember being impressed or ever buying it again.

Hey guys need a little help, I might be moving to Bryan-College Station area for a job. So any insight from my fellow TBers about the area/beer distro would be great. Thanks in advance.

I grew up in BCS... Love the city (but I'm a little biased). Great town to raise a family in... if that's your thing. Nice (not so little anymore) college town.

Beer scene is not great... 2 breweries/brewpubs in the area that make some decent stuff. HEB (local grocery chain) or Specs (local liquor chain) are pretty much your only options. You can get from BCS to JK in under 2 and half hours though... la fours can chime in with some more info as well I'm sure.

The beer scene outside of Austin/San Antonio/DFW/Houston/Corpus still kinda sucks.

When I go visit my family in West Texas (and visit outside those cities), the selection is usually BMCS (Bud Miller Coors Shiner) with the occasional 9-month old 6-pack of Sierra Nevada.

That said, CS is up and coming along with Waco.... more so than any other cities in the state. The HEB and Spec's occasionally get some great distro and there's a good beer bar called Harvey Washbangers that does growler fills (although they only fill their own growlers).

Waco actually has one of the better beer bars not in the metroplexes... the Dancing Bear Pub. That place is great.

But really you're gonna want to visit us here in ATX every once in a while to stock up. ;)

Hey all, going to be in Dallas for the first time from this evening until Tuesday afternoon. I'll be staying in Deep Ellum on Indiana St.

I looked through this thread around page 132 and saw some good suggestions for bars and restaurants to go to. Is there anything within walking walking distance from where I'm staying? I'll be with my business partners who are only casually into beer and I don't want to hike across town if I can avoid it.

Would love to try Live Oak Hef and Yellow Rose if possible, as well as any other suggestions from you guys!

Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions!

Cheers

Not really familiar with Dallas, but I think The Common Table is in Deep Ellum. I have thoroughly enjoyed the beer and food every time I've gone.

I was hoping to hit that as well, but 2.2 miles is a bit of hike by foot. If I was by myself I would definitely take that option though! I appreciate the suggestion!

Braindead Brewing & Deep Ellum Brewing are both there in DE.

Do yourself a favor and go to the Pecan Lodge BBQ. You'll have to wait in line for an hour, but it's my favorite brisket on the state. Right on the main street in DE.

Uber to Community Brewing near Downtown. Try the Mosaic IPA & Legion stout.

We also ate at LUCK (Local Urban Craft Kitchen) last time we were there... features lots (all?) local craft beer and lots of the entrees use beer. Try the beer ice cream.

I honestly wasn't impressed with The Common Table. Strangeways is my favorite bar up there or the Meddlesome Moth.

Asking a favor.

if you guys could go to this FB page and like it. Trying to get the word out about a new store to the beer scene who is trying to carve his path and be a good beer/food/gas station. He takes suggestions and is trying to get new beers in as well. Probably wont be the next sunrise but hes trying harder than some places ive frequented. (and ive known him for about 4 years as he is my go to place in the AM for gatorade and fun banter about how at and t sucks. (and the taco truck has got some damn good food)

Hopefully im not breaking some forum rule, and if i am, just let me know or delete the post.

THANKS!!
