Is football on the TV and house audio really an attraction at breweries that are selling mixed fermentation saison these days? Seems a little strange to me.

So you’ve never been to The Local. Got it. For your FYI, they are not a quaint little tasty room. They are a downtown San Diego spot that has a kickass brewery attached to the back. I hope you aren’t insinuating that because their house bar shows sports that the brewery shouldn’t make kick ass complex beers.

Shaun Hill probably loves obscure winter Olympic events. Why the **** is skiing and shooting a combined event? I’m sure he could provide a diatribe on the biathlon and then explain how Lithuania’s underdog participant should at least be able to claim a bronze this year.
Medaling in the Winter Olympics is the new requirement for getting in Collected Works

Nor do I get the complaint about having a variety of combinations of environments and/or types of booze available to the consumer. Different strokes for different folks and it would be quite boring if everything was the same.

Convenient timing. I highly recommend the new War Stories podcast about The Winter War: http://warstoriescast.com/2018/01/08/2-6-the-white-death/

To each their own, I supppose. But if I’m going to a small brewery to taste what are supposedly top notch farmhouse ales I’d rather not be surrounded by people drinking Bud Light and occasionally screaming about sports on television. Difficult to understand? This is surely not the model you’ll find at Hill Farmstead, Jester King, De Garde, Side Project and so on.

Edit - I can actually recall leaving Toolbox once because of a loud NFL game being played and the tasting room employee being more interested in the game than discussing the beers. It’s called having brand identity and consistency - and most people do not conflate sports bar atmosphere with dignified, top dollar beverages.

I don’t believe there are any ordinances on the books requiring places that televise sports to serve Bud Light. TVs, music, dogs, kids I don’t give a **** just make good beer.

If Hill Farmstead, Jester King, De Garde, Side Project, Cantillon, where ever - had TV's with sports and Bud Light I would not give a single ****. I'm there to drink beer, not "pick the brain" of whatever disinterested bartender that happens to be working. Also, "dignified, top dollar beverages?" Can you even hear yourself? May as well stay at home and smell your own farts there, bro.

Username checks out.

You guys really don't care that a great brewery is dead in the middle of a bro-zone? It is pretty weird.

The Local downtown isn't a bro-zone. PB? Yeah...

Better than it being in the middle of some ****** industrial park.
Yeah this. I'd rather drink at the Local downtown than Pure ******* Project. At least I can walk to other cool spots downtown.

My favorite combo is Wild Barrel being next to a batting cage with axe throwing night.

It was pretty neat. During the soft opening of Wild Barrel, the lady running it came into the tasting room, handed out cards, let ppl know they were shooting for a November full opening, and was offering 1hour lessons for $20. I assume the price has gone up since then but quite the deal imo. It looked fun.
