Damn.....ok, nevermind Hookemhops13 don't go there. I still really like GrandOle so I don't want to be disappointed that the comparison is not even close. At least not yet.

To be fair, I liked Grand Ole overall. But yeah. I'm not sure I would have a Texan wait in that line for brisket.

Is that the Stone proper in Escondido? If so I'd go to Alesmith/Mikkeller/BP after that - it's kind of in the middle of Stone and Modern Times, and will be a pain in the ass to travel from the Miramar area back down to North Park. If traffic is bad, it would legit save you a couple hours of driving time.

It's also important to note that Alesmith and co may be in all the same area, but they're not right next to each other. Expect a 15-minute walk to each location.

Agree with this; North Park Beer's food is ******* great, second only to Tiger! Tiger! when it comes to pubfare. If you want food on the way, stop by Lucha Libre for some solid San Diego burritos.

If you're gonna go to Tiger! Tiger!, there's Eppig/Pariah/other one I can't remember across the street too, who make decent to amazing beer. If any of you are into whiskey, make sure to hit Seven Grand, right next to NPBC. It's a legit whiskey bar, and they have some solid cocktails too - also their happy hour ends fairly late, if you're in the mood for $6 Old Fashioneds.

Oh, and if you're feeling super adventurous (aka you want to die), make the walk to Livewire.

No the Stone one is in Liberty station near Modern Times.

Will keep those places in North Park in mind, thanks!.

This is great advice. Plus you can wonder around and no one has to agree on one place to eat because there are so many places, indoor food mall.
Best part is you can order a beer at Bottlecraft and walk around too. Makes me wish other places would do that.

For example, I know some Whole Foods allow you to order a pint at the bar and walk around while you shop for groceries. I don't think any SD Whole Foods do that, sadly.

Interesting.... I wonder if you could do that at "Torrey Pints" (bar/cafe at UTC Whole Foods)... it's a pretty open area at the front of the store, not sure if anyone would flag you down for walking around the store once you got a beer assuming you were discrete about it (but maybe?).

What's going with the Mikkeller Viking club coordinators? Seems like Nicole is out(?) since emails don't seem to be coming from her... and the FB group is shut down..... sdreaper any inside info?

Yeah, that was a bit of a cryptic email. Changes/restructuring, references to miscommunication, and it clearly sounds like someone else wrote this one.

Hey rcubed you wanna go to the SDBG Golf Tournament? Looking for someone to fill in for Harvey since his ******* bought a ticket, then realized it was during his Euro-trip.

Ummm....an email went out?

But yes, rumors are that Nicole is out, haven't verified since I only heard the rumor on Tuesday and haven't been back to ask. My txt to Nicole has gone unanswered.

Yeah, last night:

Howdy y'all!

Thank you so much for your patience with us during this past week. We have been experiencing a few changes and restructuring a few things to hopefully make the Mikkeller Viking Club even greater.

We've received a ton of inquiry regarding the Mikkeller SD Viking Club Facebook Group. We are currently working on a new official one, you will all get invited to join through email.

We understand there's been some miscommunication with beer releases and wanted to take a moment to apologize and clear the air, hopefully making things right for our loyal Vikings. In our most recent e-mail blast, we mentioned that both our Cloudwater collaboration IPA and Cigar City collaboration stouts would be released on 9/16. However, since the beer tells us when it's ready, we have pushed these beers (a week and should be ready for next weekend’s release).

This weekend, however, all hell will be released when we set free our newest member to the Vanilla Shake family, MAPLE. Both original Vanilla Shake AND Maple Vanilla Shake will be canned and ready for your enjoyment by Friday 9/15 at 2pm, when both will be available for Viking Pre-Release.

Additionally, these beers are currently on tap at our tasting room for Vikings Only until Friday when the general public can try them.

As an added bonus, we are not limiting these beers. And, as Vikings, we will be offering a case discount, on top of your 15%. So, $8/16oz. can (before discount;) or $150/ case (discount included.) That saves you almost the price of two cans!

Can't speak to any of the workers there personally as I don't know them, but they've all been plenty friendly/helpful in person. Online is a totally different story. Constant miscommunication, with numerous typos and oversights where it has been a clear lack of proofreading. Very little of the perks are being delivered. No sweatshirts, only one tasting event, and so far only one of the bottle releases. The always-shifting limits are odd, although they never really affect me. Sometimes people just aren't a good fit for the roles they're put in.

Very true, hearing about the sweatshirts there have been issues on the supplier side that has caused the delays. The emails appear to be like forms where you just fill in "beer name, abv, quantitiy, picture" and then it gets blasted off.

The shifting limits I got use to since I see other breweries do that as well as the sale is live and individuals are standing in line. Of course, like you, this doesn't really affect me that much since I just roll over friday after work anyways and get what I want and offer the rest of my allocation limit to friends.

I honestly think that Nicole was just very much overworked since she was a single person that had 4-5 different job titles. Ah well.

Yeah, hence my remarks of sometimes people just not being a good fit. You give someone a role that may seem small but still requires a ton of time when they don't have any left to spare, and it doesn't have a chance of working out. I don't know what sort of impact membership groups have on these breweries but they must be somewhat significant since so many are starting to incorporate them. And the people that join them are going to have much more of a vested interest in the operations and will create a huge task for whoever is coordinating/reigning everyone in.

Haha, fail.

So possibly! I'll get back to you. We need to meet up in person anyway, we have thank you gifts for you and the wife.

So this completely sucks: http://www.westcoastersd.com/2017/09/14/shake-ups-abound-for-little-miss-brewing/

"While quality was never an issue and ownership appreciated Lisica and his beers, their vision for Little Miss’ portfolio was vastly different, leading to an amicable parting of ways. Mike Morbitzer, a fellow Green Flash alum Lisica hired as his assistant, has been promoted to brewmaster and will be responsible for reshaping Little Miss’ offerings to match the Malkin’s desires, which includes more new-school beers such as hazy IPAs and beers brewed with fruits and other adjuncts across varying styles."

Holy **** what a long-winded article. We didn't need to hear the everyday ******* facts of the case, dude.

That definitely sucks.

The firing sucks, as does the ****** direction of the company, but that doesn't mean I still can't **** with some canned pastrystouts

To be fair I thought Maple Vanilla Shake was an IPA like those dumb Milkshake IPAs. Still very much on board with pastry stouts and hazy IPAs and whatever the **** else for that matter. I just prefer a more varied portfolio ;)
