The real answer is because they are officially out of anything that resembles a good idea from a marketing or brewing perspective for a few years now?

Another real answer is there is someone high up in the marketing department that still thinks stuff that 80's Metal and Grunge Rock (Dive into a mosh pit of hops) is still hip?

Well, Metallica IS on tour and outselling nearly every other act. Not hip?

It's such a pivot from what they used to be. I mean, that whole "I'm such a badass" schtick is tired too, but this new branding is just a straight up caricature. There's literally nothing appealing about this beer.

Everyone should look at Firestone Walker and Pizza Port. Clean beer, no *******, minimalist branding.

Wouldn't be surprised if they got a C&D from Metallica. Seems like Metallica go after anything with 'tallica' in it.

That being said, a couple of great breweries involved with that collab.
I haven't bought any stone beer since the SBE got the boot. But this one actually has me intrigued, between the collab breweries and the adjuncts I'm really curious if this could turn out to be an interesting beer.
