2-3 extra bartenders joined up around 7:30, so that was good!
Just in time for regular admission woopie!

Arrived at 4PM.
40min to enter.
20min for first pour.
30min to get 3 pours at once.
25min to get 4 pours at once.
Left at 740 and gave two tickets to friends.

For everything I heard how great the Full Pint anni events are, $90 for "VIP" is absurd. The only plus were the beers were outstanding.

That's pretty nuts. Last time it was at Toro, everyone was all checked in before doors opened so entrance flowed very quickly. And the lines were definitely not that long. I remember waiting maybe 3-5 minutes for pours but I do think they had more than two bartenders the whole time. The VIP has always been worth it for me but that sounds pretty miserable.

Even with the lines, I still had a pretty awesome time. Always great to see so many familiar faces, and I certainly wound up consuming more beer than I needed. And the various dessert bars at the end were ******* delicious. In no particular order, favorite beers from the day:

Pizza Port executive member (particular order, this was the best)
HPB Danbo Pils
Sante Appreciation
Homage Kriek Homage

And according to my better half, appreciation and danbo pils were still on right around close last night (I was very asleep by then, responsible life choices).

I'm def gonna head over at some point. Hoping for a deadish patio

EDIT: google says its super busy (how the hell do they have an algorithm for that) so my wish may not be likely

Left about 20 minutes ago, a little busy for a Sunday but no more than 30-40 people there. Sage or JonathanAmes might be able to give you a more recent update (great to meet you potentially for a second time by the way!)

major shade being thrown over Abnormal's $145 sunglasses+BA beer release.... the comments on their IG feed are pretty viscous.

It's a different idea, I'm very interested to see how it pans out. I'm guessing enough people will take the plunge despite the price tag that it still sells out quickly.....

That feed is bruuuuuuutal.

The funny part is having known shitlords calling people out in the thread for being obnoxious.

I do appreciate the hoops (i.e., lines) / packages some breweries are starting to implement for their beer releases as it is becoming easier and easier to skip the sale and save money, ha.

Merchandising!

Derek is just tapping in to another market, and shitlords are butthurt about it. I'm going to buy one but I'm not sure if I want to actually keep it or flip it.

This is one of the best comments:

God forbid someone attempt an original cross over collaboration. @abnormalbeerco you should do your next collab with Kleenex so all these butthurt neckbeards can dry their salty tears. People are the worst.

Keep track of all of those complaining.

Try to get a real name from the IG name.

Cancel the orders of the complainers.

Laugh.

I was going to be all outraged over that package, saying it's stupid ********, but you know, those sunglasses are actually pretty decent, and that's not a bad price at all for a beer+glass+glasses.

These shitlords will pay $400 for ******* pastry stouts - but $100+ sunglasses is somehow an affront to god.

yeah their sunglasses normally run about $110-120. So it's not a bad deal all together. The only issue is sunglasses are so specific to the wearer, there's really no one style fit all. For some people it'll be absolutely worthless as they just don't like the style (or the fit) and some will love it.

Tapping into the designer sunglasses demographic seems like a bit of a stretch for a hyped online release. If this is a relatively limited release, do you think a "new to craft beer" consumer is going to be waiting at their computer to F5 the **** out of a keyboard? I'm extremely ignorant of high end sunglasses, so maybe this is a regular type of sale for that market, but if this place is like a brick and mortar storefront, I'd be surprise for the customers to be hunched over a computer before their lunch break. It kind of seems like a way to capitalize on the shitlord beer "I must have all the releases!!!" mentality to boost the sales of the accompanying product that the primary demographic of Abnormal likely isn't regularly purchasing (based on the instagram bitching).

Or, maybe it's Abnormal helping out what looks like a pretty unique local company and spreading awareness of that brand to neckbeards all over the country. Either way, I'm a Target sunglasses buying degenerate and haven't been a huge fan of the Abnormal stouts, so I'm just here for the entitled whining.

This is what I expect it to be. I also don't think there are really that many packages even available. As for the "Target sunglasses buying degenerate" I would be as well. But my optometrist was able to write off my sunglasses as "required" due to having lasik half a decade ago. So we spend an hour or so, once a year, going through his stock to see what I would like. I think my last pair of oakley's ran me $5 since insurance covered up to like $175.

I feel like there may be a disconnect there in terms of intent and target audience, and a lot of the insular neckbeards are getting butthurt over "MUH BEER!" After all, I have a strong suspicion that the same people outraged over this package are the same folks who are thinking, "145? That's ridiculous! Think of how many cargo shorts I can buy for that much!"

I agree re: price point for all that is included. That frame/model is $120 from 9Five. So $25 for the beer and a glass really isn't all that bad. If it was a model of sunglasses that I like and I was sorta in the market for them, this release would be appealing. But I enjoy sunglasses, among other things... so, yeah. Sitting this release out but can't say I didn't consider it, albeit briefly. Like many things in life, don't like it don't buy it. Pretty simple.
