So, bought more bramble & orange from Bevmo at La Lolla. Looked like they had maybe 2 cases of the first and one of the second. They are sending those cases to Mission Valley Bevmo (not sure which) since there was more demand over there lol.

Derek Freese posted the dates for all of MT's big festivals next year since someone in the FB group asked about caffeination.

"How about I just let you know the dates of the three festivals that I have dates for this upcoming year so you can start planning now. Carnival of Caffeination is February 16th from 12-4 (VIP at 11) at the Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation. Festival of Funk is May 11th from 1-5 (VIP at noon) at Liberty Station North Promenade. Festival of Dankness is August 24th from 3-7 (VIP at 2) at the Waterfront Park."

I got a feeling that Funk is going to be the most expensive just because it is going back to Liberty Station, and that venue has definitely jacked up their prices for renting.

Edit: Corrected the date for Dankness

Anyone try the German chocolate cake bakers at npbc? Didnt get any pecan or coconut but tasted like orange zest. Had the bartenders try it and they agreed

Exactly, swing by BSN for a quick pour since it won't last more than 45 minutes, then over to NPBC.
"Swing by" might be slightly trivializing the time involved in driving down to Chula Vista at the backend of rush hour...
Yeah, I was about to say, we have very different definitions of "swing by." You might as well swing by Alesmith in Miramar while you're at it.

I guess my definition of "swing by" is just go there for the glass and obviously not stay for a couple of hours. And yes, I "swing by" Alesmith constantly.

My understanding of traffic, aside from "it sucks", is skewed in that I tend not to go out until after 7pm anyways, so it always seems ok at that hour. Benefits of WFH.

Traffic or not, it's still 10 miles from my home in Normal Heights to Bar Sin Nombre. "Swing by" usually makes more sense if it's within close vicinity.

Plus it might rain tonight, so that's even more reason not to go south.

Hopefully the rain will be decent. We had a couple days with it over thanksgiving up in central valley. Which wasn't great with the already ****** air quality caused by the fires. But it did keep us inside making tamales...so that was a plus.

Really? The rain cleared the air really well in the Chico area. Surprised it made it worse there.

The 5th and final 2018 Order of the Anvil exclusive member release is ready to be claimed! Nocturnal Pursuit Speedway Stout was created by first aging our classic Imperial Stout with coffee in apple brandy barrels, as well as cinnamon and vanilla extract barrels. The contents of each were then blended together before the addition of cinnamon sticks, vanilla beans and coffee, resulting in a rich and flavorful dessert stout perfect for the holiday season.

Anybody hear/care about this? Have thoughts?

Join Horus Aged Ales and Hop Culture Magazine at the California Center for the Arts for what might be one of the West Coast's greatest craft beer festivals. We'll have drinks and food from over 70 different breweries and food trucks from across the country, a DJ spinning tunes, and Horus x Hop Culture limited-edition, collaborative merch and glassware from artist Spring Whitaker and designer Sam Taylor.

Follow @horusagedales and @hopculturemag and sign up for our weekly newsletter to stay updated on the event.

Where will the event take place?

California Center for the Arts, 340 North Escondido Boulevard, Escondido, California, 92025.

When is this happening?

The festival will take place over one session on Saturday, January 26th, 2018. The session will run from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Pours will stop 10 minutes before the end the session.

Is there an age limit?

All attendees must be at least 21 years old with a valid ID.

Please no pets, children, or strollers. Do not bring any coolers, canopies, umbrellas, or tables. Bags are permissible but are subject to security inspection upon entry into the festival. No weapons of any kind are permitted.

What do I get with my admission?

The Designated Driver ticket gets you access to the festival, but you won't be able to drink. Upon entering, you'll receive a ticket that's redeemable for a complimentary t-shirt from our merch stand. You'll be free to purchase food and other merchandise.

The two General Admission ticket options get you access to the festival, a limited-edition taster designed by Sam Taylor, a brochure that includes a map of the festival, and the allotted tasting tickets.

The VIP ticket includes one bottle of the limited-edition Horus x Hop Culture collab beer (Owl's First Hoot, 1/300), a limited-edition VIP glass designed by Sam Taylor, a brochure that includes a map of the festival, and a wrist-band good for unlimited pours. There will not be any additional bottles of Owl’s First Hoot for purchase. 300 VIP tickets will be sold and each person will get 1 bottle. Bottles must be picked up at the venue before leaving the festival grounds. No bottles will be stored after the event and must be picked up in person on 1/26/2019, In addition, no other beer will be available to go, no crowlers or growlers.

NOTE: If you don't have a VIP ticket and run out of tickets with the package you purchase, you'll need to buy additional tasting tickets if you want more beer. Tasting tickets purchased in advance will be given out upon check-in, or you may purchase tickets at the event. Tickets cost $4 for one ticket, $21 for 6 tickets, and $36 for 12 tickets. One ticket is redeemable for 1 x 5-ounce pour.

Will there be food?

Several food vendors will have food available for purchase. Vegetarian options will be available. More details to come.

Who will be pouring the beer?

We're working to make sure that a representative from the brewery is on hand to pour beer, answer questions, and have fun. In most cases, this will be the head brewer or founder.

Which beers will be served?

The beers at the fest are extremely fresh and limited release, so it's hard to predict brewing schedules well in advance. However, we'll release the beer lists in the week leading up to the fest as they become available.

Will there be enough beer?

Some breweries will kick their kegs before last call, but we will do our best to avoid this.
