Weird that Modern Times made a glitter stout and the outrage was non-existent...
People were too busy trolling me about it in the League Facebook group to be outraged.

I'd prefer they never put glitter in beer again but as long it's just the occasional one-off thing, it's whatever. Breweries are also discovering that it's kind of a hassle to serve - kegs need to be shaken fairly often to keep the glitter in suspension - so I'm hopeful that will help limit how often they bother to use it.

npbc one was a cask. I'm more iffy about charcoal than I am glitter. The Nectarnomicons MT were doing looked ******* nasty.

You get one beer named after ya and all of a sudden you get to decide what everyone makes huh?

Not in the least, but it doesn't prevent me from wondering wtf is going on. If you want to drink that beer, by all means go for it. I have little doubt that it will taste quite delicious due to where it was brewed at, I just think that aesthetics still plays at least a small part in beer.

Although it was likely rhetorical, you did ask “why?”

#whataboutism #misdirection I also did express my outrage and trolling on a different platform.

Yep, and that is pretty much a bummer.
You know what's fun? Making a highly-drinkable, perfectly balanced beer that i can have 2-8 pints of. :)

In saying that, I learned not to be angry anymore about adjuncts and goofy ingredients in beer. We just have to realize we may not be the target audience for those beers.

A great thing about the current state of our industry right now is there's a beer for every type of drinker now.

Remember when beer was actually beer?
Sure do, and it still is. Let's not forget the fact that this 5.6% beer is packed with 7lbs per barrel of Simcoe, Mosaic, and Citra hops. Yeah, there's some gimmicky food grade additives going into this single 10.8 gallon firkin, for the hell of it, a one time only release. Does that suddenly invalidate the other 70,000 or so gallons of beer we've made since opening 2 years ago?

Thanks for being a voice of reason here Geoi.

Don't take my outrage to heart; I'm "old man yelling at cloud" status here when it comes to "the scene." As it stands, I barely drink beer much these days anyway, so my opinion means jack ****.

I'm also probably stopping by to try that oil slick moon dust IPA anyway because I love the hell out of weird gimmicks.

Beer isn’t fun anymore.
Beer is still fun; we're not fun anymore.

ChuckAlek made some cool beers you couldn't get anywhere else. I'm mad at myself for not visiting the NP location. Maybe I'll pop in before they close. Their Grazter and Alt beers are phenomenal plus the historical porters/stouts are always fun to try.

The with owners moving and the change in what sells these days, I'm not surprised by this.

We're to the point where complaining about beer gimmicks is worse than the gimmicks. West coast double ipa's used to be the bleeding edge of old man complaints. Let your freaky flag fly and if it doesn't pan out, then so be it! Plus, yeah for a few casks or treated kegs why not. I think we're in no place to chain Kelsey to the brew deck and demand only classic styles.

I get one beer named after me and I get to dictate what people can complain about smdh. :p

Been thinking all day who would be a good candidate to slide into that beer garden.
