That location is pretty cool but kind of hidden and near where random people scream at the sky all day. I hope someone else can pick it up. It’s a great day drinking spot.

Yeah just a tasting room (beer garden really).
I actually find it to be a rather awkward spot, especially if the weather is less than stellar (either way- hot or cold/rainy). And the food option around the corner, not my jam, but more so, kind of a pain in the ass to execute- with their space and the tasting room space.

With that being said, I hope another brewery or something of that sort (ie: local, craft) snags it up. I worry that it’s a lot that could just get another building instead of another outdoor space (with better utilization of the of the small indoor space to combat weather stuff).

Yeah, beyond the actual quality of the beer, that little section of North Park is kind of a pain in the ass location to be in. I would only expect a big local name to actually succeed there.

Comic-Con is always a good excuse to try out breweries in Gaslamp I wouldn’t usually hit up.... was able to check out Bell Marker tonite, beers range from very good (IPAs) to excellent (English Brown) to stellar (DIPA)... not too surprised given Nacho is at the helm here. Only sampled about half the taps, I’m only human.

Food is better than the usual fare, pizza=yum and ricotta fritters=classy aracini... def one of the better options in the area (although I did have flashbacks to attending some tricky rare bottle events here that were hosted by Best Damn Beer Shop back in the day).

4 out of 5 mint grade Amazing Spider-Man issue #300 (h/t dontdrinkbeer)

Only thumbs-down is that all the TVs were streaming (?) ChiveTV.... wtf?!?

Hey all. I'll be staying in Normal Heights over labor day weekend. Any recommendations aside from the spots on Adams? Probably walking but may be renting a car.
Thanks!

You could post up at Blind Lady and Tiger!Tiger! and likely be all set without the need for a car. Otherwise, you can walk (this is a long walk and I would recommend an uber) to all of the stuff on 30th and El Cajon blvd and south on 30th from El Cajon blvd. These locations I would recommend are Eppig, Belching Beaver, Rip Current, North Park Beer Co, and of course Toronado.

Edit: This thread is a little outdated (updated beginning of this year) but it would give you a better idea of the going-ons in the area (University Heights, North Park section): https://www.talkbeer.com/community/threads/san-diego-visitors-guide.2069/

Long walk for you reaper, or long walk in general? I live on 36th and Adams and I've walked to Toronado multiple times before. Longest it's taken me is 15 minutes.

Otherwise, those recommendations are on point. Would also recommend Bottlecraft if you're going to NPBC, as it's across the street and they usually have some pretty fun stuff. It's always a trip to walk there and see the Berry Whites turding it up.

I am just going by # of blocks. I tend to not see people walk more than 3/10 of a mile and would instead get a ride. As for me, I walk to and from Alesmith about once a week (2.6ish miles each way) and then walk/jog 3-4miles 5x a week in the evening....when it finally gets cooler outside. Getting back up to my 5miles/day run.

I hope to hell you're exaggerating...

Some day in the not too distant future, someone with too much time on their hands could go back through your posts on BA and TalkBeer and produce a remarkably thorough biography of your life, largely unrelated to beer.

It's a pretty boring life, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone to research.

And sadly no, not exaggerating...ppl don't ******* walk/job/run a lot it seems. A mile is "too far".

Edit: To make it more beer-related. I do walk to Alesmith to get beer. I also am building back up to my 5miles/day run because of beer. Ben bikes for it, I need to run for it.

What?!? I didn't even know about this and Rip's BA offerings are the tits.... Too bad I'll be sweating my balls off in the middle east before the 28th so I can't try to grab any in person. Did anyone buy too many?
