Gravity Heights will be holding our soft open/mock service from January 15-20.

If anyone is interested in reserving a spot (who did not already get an invite), DM me your email address and I’ll send you the info.....

It’s been a long time coming, and we’re super excited to open.... would love to get feedback on the beers and food from the TB crew here.

Do you know if menu items can be altered for this as I know they couldn't for the last set of events? I am asking as my wife is interested in going but she has a lot of dietary restrictions.

Yes, the soft open week will have the full menu and you should be able to adjust orders as needed...... those menu tastings last month were a whole different deal, they had to prepare everything as-is in order to get uniform feedback across the board from the group (they also had limited space/resources staging at Catania during their regular dinner service).

Soft open (“mock service”) is 50% of all food/drink.... trade-off is patience/understanding/feedback as we work out the kinks for a week leading up to grand opening on 1/24.

Hopefully ya'll are still alive....or at least slightly functional in this new year. I anticipate the same shenanigans as previous but with a new 2019 twist. No idea what the twist will be but yeah.

As for this new year new me, it looks strangely similar to the old me, but with a hat. Cruising over to Alesmith with burrito in hand in about an hour. Gotta try that new member blend (available for growler fill as well):

Pappy's Got a Brand New Bag ($42 + tax)
(blend of the below beers)
  • 2016 Barrel Aged Speedway Stout
  • 2016 Barrel Aged Vietnamese Coffee Speedway Stout
  • 2014 Barrel Aged Speedway Stout
  • Pappy Van Speedwinkle

New you is old you.

So how is Modern Times able to make cider? Did they get part of an offsite warehouse licensed to do so?

They talked about it at one of the preview tastings. Memory is a bit fuzzy by this point but I believe they got whatever license needed to do it and the ciders are aging with the rest of the barrels in the offsite warehouse (aka the "Fortress").

Surely Xul will be by shortly to clarify.

It got brought up when they were on the session last year. I am listening to it again on my walks if I hear it today I'll update you.

Edit:
I recall it's a condition of their original license. If they pass a certain barrelage then it is built in and hey are good to go.

I believe Type 17 is the key one, as it’s Beer/Wine Wholesaler, and I think for licensing purposes the ABC bins ciders into the wine category.

It's the Type 01 that allows them to manufacture Cider & Perry. They just have to sell it to a licensee that is authorized to sell wine. The bill allowing this (AB779) was primarily built around permitting large breweries like Boston Beer Company, who have subsidiary cider companies (Angry Orchard), to be able to sell their wares without having to get a Type 02 and separate premises for manufacturing "wine".

So, what's the best bet for Pizza Port location this Saturday? I'm kind of obsessed with nabbing that Keep the Mug deal
#glasswareverticals :p
If memory serves bressi ran out pretty quick last year but I would guess they are upping the amount of mugs they have available.

Anyone know if B+E is hitting distro? Need, and don't want to have to break my no shipping beer resolution.

I don't know for certain but it did last year. Not sure how wide distro was, but I got some at BC or BV, I can't remember which.

I know it went as far north last year as San Francisco as it is still sitting on shelves up there.

Per the Facebook event page for the release:
Bacon & Eggs Imperial Coffee Porter is coming back to cans! Six-packs of this popular brew will be available everywhere you purchase Pizza Port beer starting January 12th, 2019.
I'd assume it will be hitting at least the same distro footprint as last year, if not wider.
