I've been seeking this beer for years and I finally landed one with a best before Sept 2015 due to a friend's extreme generosity. It was a weird one. It is in that earthy Blaugies/Vapeur realm and was mostly akin to a smoky Vapeur Pipiax.

The body was lighter than the picture. It had a fruity funk with lots of smoke notes that reminds me of the Dupont Triomfbier Vooruit. Plenty of pear and apple and as it opened up, lots of melon. Very interesting and engaging. I'd really like to try a fresher bottle, although I bet this one can go for extended periods.

Pretty Things Jack D'or from May 2015

Oxidized and water with a significantly sweeter profile than is typical for this beer with lots of orange citrus / tangerine like character. Lacking in the classic yeast profile for the beer, lack of carbonation, and just an all around meh beer.

Sad as I really enjoy this beer, and I'm hoping this is the case of an isolated bad bottle as opposed to the remaining stock on shelves totally falling off.

Time to drink them up I guess and I'm glad I only have a couple left.

How is the cleaner clean face wash holding up?

Transient Fervent April 2015

Herbal and hop forward, mild bitterness, light tartness, moderately dry with a huge amount of carbonation (highly recommend chilling throughly as it tried gushing), light funk and apple / light fruit esters dominate the yeast character. Good but I much preferred Hop Drink for my funky hoppy Transient.

Posting some recent bottles I enjoyed:

La Choulette's Sans Culottes. Solid BdG with that smooth maltyness, pear/honey sweetness, and mild yeast character. This bottle had a bit of a cork/cardboardy thing going on so maybe not the freshest bottle.

Funkwerks Tropic King aged in peach whiskey barrels. Lots of peach sweetness, estery saison, and whiskey barrel. This beer drinks too easy...

Went to Cultivate brewing Company in Berrien Springs, MI (About 10 minutes drive with a detour from Transient / Tapistry / MI Haymarket) this weekend and thought it was the perfect embodiment of a Midwestern Farmhouse Brewery.

Not the clearest picture in the world, but styles included Wit, Saison, Belgian Single, IPA, Belgian Strong, Brown, Stout, Belgian IPA and a Sour Farmhouse Style)/

Growing their own hops, huge outdoor seating area, family accommodating to the max, and was by far the most crowded "local" spot that we hit up on Labor Day weekend.

A 3.5 bbl psychobrew system that should grow in years to come, and the beer quality was impressive for a 6 month old spot. Can't wait to visit again on our next trip this area.

Went to Glenwwod Springs on a work trip in 2011, and Berrien Springs in 2013 - always too soon! Berrien is at least close enough to visit on a whim.

The nice thing is between Berrien Springs & Bridgman you will soon have the ability to hit up Transient Brewing, Tapistry Brewing, Haymarket Brewing & Cultivate Brewing. I can't make it past Exit 12 on 94 without getting toasted if we were stopping at all the MI breweries going from West to East.

This probably doesn't belong here, but I was contemplating buying one of these Blaugies La Moneuse Speciale Noel magnums for the holidays. Anyone drank one of these in a single sitting? It's been awhile since I've had the beer, but I remember enjoying it. Will this be a chore or the start of a very merry christmas?

A few more enjoyable saisons for the thread:

Lot 6 per the cork. Medicinal sweetness, cooling clove, and pepperiness that most Fantomes have had lately. Bright citrus and some strawberry. Fruit aside this almost reminds of a Vapeur saison.

Very easy drinking and light. Almost like a grissette with a refreshing acidity and a long dusty funk.

Drank a 225 the other day too that I’d be more than willing to crush a magnum of too.

What's the difference between this and Pourison?

Is Apex Predator actually the perfect example of a Saison? I had a 4 pack over the past couple nights after not having it for a while, and it's even better than I remember. It's like they found a way to perfect Saison DuPont, which was already near perfect. So, is it the best? I'll hang up and listen*

*will listen to everyone except people who peddle their overly sour, borderline AWA ******** (side project and hill farmstead)**

**i should stop drinking beers today

It is excellent, and it would be a staple in my fridge if it was available. I know Thorpe429 would agree with your statement as well.
