Waiting in line for the last batch of Rusty was easier than running around town and making friends with every bottle store employee, though.

I will forever miss walking into Fremont on release day and there being like ten people in the place. Brew 1000 and Rusty batch 1 included. Hell, I remember showing up at Fremont for the first release of KDS and I was the only one there.

can we refrain from discussing this beer until after i am able to land it.

i dont need another Ancient Ones debacle on my hands.

You've created your own monster.

I went back the next day for more Rusty B1, because they sent out an announcement that they had some left over and people should swing by and pick more up. It was a 144 bottle release.

So good

Crazy good. Enjoyed some on Sunday at Toronado. Figured we weren't talking about it to keep the whole thing from devolving into insanity.
Meh.

It's a great beer and it's going to be shared and enjoyed for the most part I would think. I'm assuming Toronado will be squirreling some away but I don't see it lasting long. Maybe that will help with the **** lords?

I was joking.

There are a bunch more bottles that need to be waxed and labeled. Toronado should have more in a week or two.

Hey friends - can someone please give me the details on "the hidden truth"? I heard it's BA2k in two barrels? What were the release details and has anyone seen any trade?

200 bottles. Released at the HHC dinner, which cost $125 and included the beer to go. Same beer, recipe, etc as Brew 2000 just in a Westland Distilling peated "American Scotch" barrel (they actually get the peat from bogs on the Olympic peninsula but that's where the cool factor ends for me) instead of their typical 12 yr Heaven Hills barrels.

Only trade I've seen so far was combined with Smoking Jacket for VR + a members Superstition bottle + HOG + Straight Jacket.... Good luck!

They were selling Three Matt's to go on Friday. Cracked one that night. Amazing blend, loved the cherry component. I assume that part was barrel aged as well? Looking forward to trying that beer on its own.
Everyone either loved or hated that beer at HHC. Some said it was great, others said it tasted like cherry coke.

Anyone have an accurate bottle count estimate on this year's Rusty? People in Beer Tasting Seattle seem to enjoy just making up numbers and then stating them matter-of-factly.

Fremont typically makes a bunch. Fremont probably still has RN(b4?). With the expansion of their barrel warehouse i doubt the count is low, there is also a release at PineBox (who it was brewed for) that is coming up so im assuming theres a bunch set aside for that event as well as all the local bottle shops. Saw some pop up in PDX as well.

I have no clue, but way more than last year and way way way more than the OG release. 2017 is the third batch, FYI.

I walked into the UBG earlier today and grabbed a bottle of Rusty for my dad for Father's Day. Still a ton left for sale and it's showing up all over Seattle, even at places that never saw last year's version.

Totally feels good man.

And now I go back to waiting for the HFoD cans.

Also, Perennial collab on June 24th.

Last years release made it to Spokane so if this year's is bigger I expect the same will happen, which I am happy about. I don't like First Nail but really enjoy Rusty, I imagine the licorice fades over the time in the barrels which is a flavor I do not enjoy so that helps.

The cinnamon fades, the licorice never goes away. Had my last bottle of OG Rusty last fall.

I know the count is high, and I got my bottles already, just curious if the "7,000" number that was apparently just made up arbitrarily is anywhere close to accurate.

Serious question: why does everyone care so much about the exact bottle count? I only care if it's a HM release so I can count the people and line and know if I have a shot at bottles or not....
