I don't see the brilliance in it given family members that are employees and don't get a boatload of vacations days, as opposed to owners that can make their own schedules. But maybe I'm just too traditional...

Been doing it since I was married 19 years ago.... well before making my own schedule.

Apparently everyone in my family has had an extra vacation day or two for a long time.

Its an easier travel day for our parents, the stores are open in case you forget anything, and then on the Thursday, we can relax, flop on the couches, eat leftovers and watch football all day. We then have a three day weekend.

Works out really well for us.

If you are “traditional”. Awesome. Have at it.

Working on some bottle openers for Christmas presents. The big hunk of iron is a busted jack hammer bit that I’m forging into a drift to round open the hole.

Manly man hobbies, those yet to be bottle openers look like they will weight 5 pounds. I tell people beer is my gym, but I refer to moving kegs and fermenters, and manually milling the grist, not opening a bottle!

Probably not even five ounces. Six inches of half inch mild steel.

Not a bad first morning of forging this season. (I don’t forge in the heat. Fat melts.)

Many of you guys met him over the years, and if you didn’t you missed meeting a real gentleman and a top notch brewer. Bill Tredo passed away. The world is a poorer place without him.

RIP Mr. Tredo. I’m happy for you that you’re reunited with your lovely wife.

I'm too old and lazy to polish my kegs, barely wipe off the outside when cleaning out insides. Really. I'm a slob. I keep socks on the floor. I don't rake after mowing the lawn. I've never blown off my driveway. And why does that make "I don't even have a garage, you can call home and ask my wife!" pop into my head?
