My two fave husker du records in memory of grant hart....

And a really great post from the best record store in the state:

A newly discovered oldie 10" from another pop punk fave of mine. Also...yes, that's a ******* Stevie Wonder "songs in the key of life" coaster that my wife made out of a beat up old version of the record (basically just took the record and cut out the label to make a coaster - she's smart and art savvy).

Dreamchasers Yard Breather is the beer - underrated delish.

Christ. These guys were the worst man. Didn't they do a reunion thing recently?
they did.. but apparently they got such a positive response, they cancelled it to make more musico_O

I really loved the album after this (emotion is dead) or at least most of it. it's mostly nostalgia, as this is the stuff I listened to 97-02ish. before I got into hxc.

This is what it's all about. Literally what fuels me at least a couple days of the week. Too many to count. Cheers.
you can see a pile of 7"s in this pic.. trying to work my way through them. but this player is in the kitchen, as I listen to it the most while cooking. and it's annoying to wash your hands every 5 minutes to switch records haha. still try to most nights.

There was one song on emotion is dead that was always a guilty pleasure of mine - "in your eyes" I think? Those guys were about as cheesy emo as you can get man...

And....more importantly....you have a record player in your kitchen??? You're my hero dude.

I won't disagree. my favorite is whichever has the 'shut your mouth' line. it gets me hype. and the kitchen is where is listen to most of my vinyl. I have one in the dining room, but it's one of those 'look old, but aren't really old' electrophines or some other crap. speakers are total ****.

but then again, the most time I spend in the dining room is walking through it to get to the kitchen lol.

Aren't they back in ZAO? They might be doing another reunion or maybe breaking up again. Or was that Juliana Theory?
I've been waiting the ENTIRE time I've been in this thread for someone to mention zao haha

this is a band I've been super into for the last ~month or so. only discovered them bc I'm on a venue email list and they're playing Philly at the end of the month. have tickets, but now I can't go. major disappoint.

They'll probably break up either before the show or during.

I'm looking to upgrade my setup. I found a second hand receive years ago and I think it's time to upgrade. Does anyone have any recs on simple but effective setups? Note, I'm far from an audiophile.

I see amazon has pre-amps which should work nicely, but have never tried. They don't seem to have speaker wire hook ups (instead red/white input/outputs) so I don't think that'll work with my setup.

If you want advice and some really good equipment go to Acme music on Piedmont Ave. The owner (John) is great, he repairs old stuff and we got a great set up from him, even advised us not getting new speakers after he checked out the ones we had.

I dpn't see that anyone else has mentioned it, but a pre-amp must be accompanied by a power amp--and the speaker outputs are on the power amp. A receiver on the other hand, combines the two in one box.

Not sure why I keep preordering albums...

I usually preorder something at my local shop if I know it's going to be limited somehow - numbered, colored, whatever...simply to ensure I get a copy. But certainly don't expect anything about it to be speedy. Just more of a guarantee of ownership.
