I was completely joking, but please elaborate. If they don’t turn profit just don’t bring them into your store right? Or are you saying that that might be unavoidable if they become popular?

Don't worry, I didn't take your post as anything more than tongue in cheek. But yeah, you hit the nail on the head with that last part. If these take off and become a thing that customers want then there will be pressure to keep them in stock to keep your customer base happy. From talking to a few people who have run stores, 7" are already a pain in that the margin on them isn't great and they have a tendency to sit longer and I would imagine that these would be more of the same. It might be different in smaller cities, but here and Boston there are enough choices for stores that if you're not carrying something you'll lose people to the guy down the street who is carrying everything.

I’ll be looking for The Pietasters, Weezer B-sides, Green Day & maybe the Pear Jam.
Last year I picked up The Offspring & The Against Me! 7in

Okay... so much like Young Fathers last year, my early front-runner for 2019 album of the year is completely unexpected. This **** is heavy duty in my percussion-loving wheelhouse. Afrobeat, modern/smooth-jazz, tribal chant...****** psych funk. This thing hits so many musical g-spots for me. Having played in (my first afrobeat love) Antibalas and then Sharon Jones' backing Dap-Tones...and knowing this was an organic creation during her last year of touring....it feels important. Like a jumping off point for the post-Jones era for Dap-Tone. There are too many intangibles.

A die-cut sleeve, with the record insert on the inside...and then some badass Native American symbol on the inside of the sleeve...

Just too much fun and the music is too important to me.
Thank you for this

Yeah, not all that impressed. Maybe a handful of things I'll be buying. Last year's list was much better. Hoping things get added.

Definites
13th Floor Elevators
Weezer b-sides and rarities thing just to have Suzanne on vinyl cause it's my favorite song from them.

Probablys
Devo box set
Rancid and Bad Religion 3"s just cause what the **** is a 3"??!?

Maybes
Best of Townes Van Zandt - usually hate best ofs, but in this case it might match my interest level of the artist
Random 7"s/12"s
Pietasters
X-Ray Spex

**** YES.

I'll be looking for the Thrice 12", the weezer jawn if it's not too limited, and I'd take a shot at the Pietasters as well. haven't listened to them since college and have nothing of their's on vinyl. I might check out that Menzingers 7".. I've always enjoyed them, they're local.

My thoughts exactly on the Pietasters. I need more normal ska on vinyl. Don't see a lot of it around, so would take a flyer on those guys.

That album & their previous ones are so good. After that they were kinda meh. Saw them open for Bosstones in Philly last year & they were awesome. It might have been 15 years before that I saw them in my hometown at a firehouse.

Dude, that's awesome. You guys look stellar. I saw them play way back in the day with the Bosstones and Swingin Utters. I'm gonna guess like 96-97, somewhere in there?

Thanks! Sounds about right. Love the Utter$. Missed them the last couple times they were around. Check out Filthy Theiving Bastards, doubt they have anything on vinyl.

They do, there was a RSD 2015 release & it has been purchased.

Idk anything about the business of running a record store these days but locally we’ve lost two so far this year. A very disheartening trend. The two larger ones remaining don’t really carry much besides expensive reissues and bigger releases. Maybe that’s what pays rhe bills?

Starting hip hop Friday a bit early

Picked this up at Amoeba SF back in 2013/2014. Sealed copy off the wall and I probably overpaid for it but it’s one of my favorite records I own. Finally opened it sometime last year because keeping it sealed was ******* dumb collector’s mentality.

I did a quick spot check of some items on my wantlist and there weren't nearly as many buying options and most of those options were also sellers on discogs. The two things that could help them get traction though are the auctions and official artist shops and I could also see them appealing to a newer or more casual shopper due to brand recognition. As is though, I really don't see too much of a point to checking there for purchases at the moment.

Easily my second favorite release of 2019. These guys are definitely right behind Oh Sees and King Gizz as one of my fave bands of that genre. But they keep more to the garage punk side of that spectrum. Like I feel like this is what Modey Lemon would sound like if they were still together and realized that they veered off a bit too weird (seriously - Pierre Pressure , tell me “Pleasure” on this record doesn’t sound like a Modey Lemon Jam).
