Most people I know, including myself basically exclusively use the Ikea "Kallax" unit. Sturdy, and comes in various sizes and colors. I love to see peoples storage that's more unique, but often some of those options are less stable. Though, I have seen some great unique shelving options.

We went to Ikea and were ready to get a kallax, besta combination. Functionally, it's hard to beat kallax. I just feel at this point in my life I'd like to avoid flatpack furniture. However, we looked at 8 furniture stores the other day and we found 1 TV cabinet we actually liked but the color wouldn't work in our living room.

After years of searching, hoping to avoid Ikea, I finally managed to find something on craigslist that was unique, affordable and met all my needs.

quirk6 - I would suggest staying patient until you find something you're truly happy about rather than forcing it.

Patience is probably the way to go. I was shopping now because my wife got a bonus and we have some good money to shop for it right now, but I'd rather now compromise. If I'm going to spend the money it should be on something I really like. The second good advice in there is craigslist, I didn't think to look there.

If money wasn’t a issue I’d jump on these in a heart beat.

Combines everything I love aesthetically with the feel I love with digging in a shop.

If money weren't an issue there are lots of mid-century modern pieces out there I could spend thousands on.

This is what I eventually ended up with. It was brand new on Craigslist from a place going out of business. I wanna say I think it was $400? Certified reclaimed wood or whatever. EXTREMELY durable. Doesn’t bow - although I did install a support in the middle of the bottom shelf which carries most of the weight.

That's nice, and a price I would pay. Looks like plenty of storage. Comics on the bottom shelf?

**** yeah, comics on the bottom shelf haha. That one side is open and I haven’t figured out how I want to remedy, so I just stuck the comic box there for the time being and sort of stopped thinking about it after that.

And storage was huge. At the pace I’ve been buying over the past couple years, I wanted something that could keep up with the collection.

Room for growth is key. Music has been important in my life and I fell away from it for awhile (******* digital music). I feel like I've regained something getting back into vinyl and I intend to keep it going.

This is a ******* shiny record.

For those of you wondering, I exchanged that The Orb record for this and they insisted on a gift certificate for the cost difference despite my persistent resistance. Love my local shop.

Anyway...new ****** Ty Segall *******!!

Blanton's is my favorite non-beer liquid. We need to party. Ima invite Pierre Pressure too.
I'm game.

I've been meaning to ask you...or maybe I already did but forgot...either way. Pittsburgh record stores that are worth it? So far Juke seems ok, great for random repressed albums to fill out a collection, but didn't see too much interesting/obscure stuff when I stopped in. Everywhere else I've been has ranged from bad to downright disgraceful.

Cruel Noise Records in Polish Hill.

But Paul's, I mean Sound Cat, I mean Juke ...was my weekly stop...once they learned my tendencies they got in everything that I was after. I know the new guy is new, so not sure how he's running the place...but that staff has been there for decades. I sold them records from my warehouse back in the day...they know their **** if you start the convo.
