In contention for 2000 album...this is the only UK punk band I've listened to consistently in the past 25 years ish other than Snuff. Massive influence on so much that consumed me in late 90s/early 2000s...

This ******* album. This ******* album is perfect.

Oh...ha...my avatar is the lead singer...I guess that's also significant.

I'm an idiot.

I bought a stack of new records yesterday...one of which I thought was the new Orb record from the Australian psych/fuzz band, but realized last night after getting home that it's the other Orb band - the electronic whatever band from the UK I think. ******* crazy that they both have albums coming out around the same time. Just didn't even think twice that it could be a different band.

Anyway - it's still sealed. Should I try to bring it back and see if I can swap it out for store credit? Or should I take my lumps here for being a way-too-fast-on-my-lunch-break-with-a-list record shopper? I shop there often, so I feel like they'd help me out somehow, but I also feel like I should just hold onto the thing until I find someone who might want it someday.

If it makes a difference - it was a kind of expensive limited colored vinyl version of this thing. Dang near $30.

I think they’ll let you exchange it. Seems like an honest mistake

I totally assumed that was just you smoking a pipe. A little disappointed tbh.

What do you all do for record storage? We're looking to redo the entertainment center in our living room to accommodate the new stereo and record collection and I can't seem to find the right combo of looks and function.

There was a record store near us when we were living in Boston that made what amounts to small bookcases but built specifically to hold records. If/when we can convince our woodworking friend to move out here I would like to have a custom built stand for the receiver and turntable with record shelving underneath, kind of like a tv entertainment stand, except for important things. That's just a pipe dream for now though... Really though, any custom furniture shop should be able to put together some simple record shelving that will look nice and can be incorporated into whatever the rest of your set up is.

Most people I know, including myself basically exclusively use the Ikea "Kallax" unit. Sturdy, and comes in various sizes and colors. I love to see peoples storage that's more unique, but often some of those options are less stable. Though, I have seen some great unique shelving options.

After years of searching, hoping to avoid Ikea, I finally managed to find something on craigslist that was unique, affordable and met all my needs.

quirk6 - I would suggest staying patient until you find something you're truly happy about rather than forcing it.

If money wasn’t a issue I’d jump on these in a heart beat.

Combines everything I love aesthetically with the feel I love with digging in a shop.

Years ago (2010), I ordered a small LP cabinet from these guys, prob holds about 150 or so: https://www.gothiccabinetcraft.com/search.php?search_query=Lp+storage&Search=search

Works and looks great, was reasonably priced. Shipped to me in Chicago.
