Weller good, BTW....real good.

Discogs mail day. Have had this one on my wantlist for at least a couple years. Finally got drunk a couple weekends ago and pulled the trigger on the cheapest copy I’ve seen in at least a year despite coming from overseas. $32 for a damn 10”. And to make matters worse, I basically paid all of that for one song. A cover of Nick Cave’s Ship Song. Leatherface did a cover of it on Horsebox, and while I enjoy that greatly, this version is just Stubbs without the slightly cacaphonous guitars kicking in half way through. Stubbs is the dude in my profile pic, BTW.

The beer. Realize I’m a homer for Pittsburgh stuff, but this is easily one of the best coffee stouts I’ve ever had.

All great stuff for me right here.

You coulda just called me, I would have sang it to you.

The other record in today’s mail. A solid, memorable outing by martsch IMO. (Maybe they’re all memorable solely due to infrequent release?) I might be (aka “am likely”) a BTS apologist. Shrug. Feel the same about him as I do for Neil Young.

More Pittsburgh beers. Full disclosure, this **** was really sweet and tough to get down although I still maintain it was a good beer, cause it was.

I too have been on a Discogs bender (though I probably cannot blame beer too much for the insane trigger pulling) and am awaiting Ancient Melodies, an album I have needed for too long. I got There is No Enemy on an Insound clearance last winter (anybody remember when Insound was legit?) and that album is as lukewarm as I remember. You In Reverse is the album I first started having reservations about BTS, though some of that is due to an excellent soundboard recording of a lot of the songs on You In Reverse and There Is No Enemy that i think has better versions of songs than the album versions, and also because Ultimate Alternative Wavers through Keep it Like a Secret is just such a strong run. I've decided to pick up You In Reverse soon as I recall it being pretty fun, but my true desire is for K records to finally press The Normal Years comp.

Finally someone local pressed this **** so I didn’t have to bother with ordering online...(the band released the digital album for free but also made public all the pressing details for anyone that wanted to produce the album on their own).

If I wasn’t such a sucker for whatever is going on with Microtonal Banana, this would be my fave King Gizz record to date. Such a great mix of all the **** they’ve been up to since they started recording....

The beer is Noda’s sixth anni beer - a BA Strong Ale. Big and boozy is right up my alley.

Realizing the record kinda blends into the background. It’s an opaque clear if that makes sense.

Been getting too talky with my posts, sorry. But this was a cool one. These guys were always on the outskirts of the E6 Collective and I think it's kept them pretty consistent unlike others who have seen a little success. Anywhoo, just like with most bands I was into in college, they had kinda gotten away from me...so when I saw this record tonight in the used bin, not only did I assume it was old (like demos or some **** - on their old label and the art is basic), but I also assumed that the signatures were just part of the album cover. Took a chance at ten bills....low and behold, this is a 2010 album (WAAAAY newer than I thought) and the signatures are real...not part of the cover art.

******* love records.
