Roky never had a horror vibe for me. He is/was a pop artist (self admitted Buddy Holly junkie - check out his vocal stylings in "Starry Eyes" for example) who wrote about horror images. Mis-classified his entire career.

I'm not knocking the horror themed songs at all, that last album just has more autobiographical songs if I remember correctly. You can't beat this though.

I get shades of Otis and Sam. It’s inspired stuff obviously.

I’ve been digging deeper into the whole Colmine Records catalog and finding some great stuff. Known for their 45s but starting to produce some full length stuff.

One of my favorite currently touring bands is The Monophonics and their lead singer just put out a solo album and it’s fantastic. It dropped last week and I haven’t picked it up yet but will as soon as I see it.

Anyone else heard of Amigo The Devil? I’ve had this on CD for awhile but decided I need it on wax. I’ve heard it called “murder folk”. It’s very twisted, funny, and dare I say romantic.
