Temperature controller for cooling AND heating

Hi

I'm adding a heater to my old fridge so that I can put my wort in there for fermentation. I'm gonna hook the cooler unit and the heater up to a controller via relays. For this I need a controller that have the possibility for engaging the heater if the temperature gets lower than the set point, and the cooling unit if the temperature gets higher than the set point. Anybody out there who knows what this function is called, and maybe where I can get hold of a controller with this function included?

If you're ok doing some basic wiring, search for STC-1000. Many people use these for fermentation purposes. Just make sure you get the STC-1000 or ITC-1000 that has the two relays. There are other units that look the same but only have one relay.

If you want to buy a premade Unit, buy a Inkbird ITC-308 there is no point really in building a STC-1000 anymore IMHO when for $5-10 more you can have a very professionally constructed item at your door in a few days from Amazon. I agree that the ITC-308 is a good route to go if you don't want to DIY and you don't want to wait for something to take forever getting here on a boat. Although I don't know if I could get it for only $5-10 more. I just picked up an ITC-1000 (Fahrenheit version) for $10 on ebay. Throw in a cheap toolbox and a few other odds and ends and still under $20. The ITC-308 is going for $38.99 on Amazon so closer to $20 more. In the big scheme of things, it's not that much more but that $20 could go towards another batch of beer.
