table sugar for 5 gal batch

so how much table sugar should i use to prime a 5 gallon batch. approx. 5% abv. 1/2 cup? 3/4 cup?

A scale is the only way to be precise, sorry to say. 3/4 of a cup might be way more if it's packed down, so there isn't any way to compare weight to volume. You can try to use 2/3 of a cup, but that may or may not be close to 3 ounces by weight.

When I used house sugar I used 3/4 of a cup per 23 liter batch. Never had any problems.
