Cidah, I live in Elmira and I was curious if I could get in on your next bulk grain buy? I'm in syracuse one a month so picking it up would be no problem!

yeah that would be no problem. Only issue right now is that we don't plan on doing another bulk buy until the end of the winter. We might end up doing one but more than likely it is 2-3 months away at earliest.

Thanks rust, will put you down for less one. should have pricing actual today.

Your an animal smashing, i love it. Cidah says then but mark my words we start a buy by thanksgiving. It may not close till then but o well.

Why not start a new one when the current one ends? That way when the order is filled the order could be placed.

jhenderson - haha, probably right

It might make sense to shoot for a two pallet order by the spring or late winter. We should get a discount on shipping witht he extra pallet (I think) and maybe a general price break.

We can start one, but it is harder to accept the order in the winter for me personally. I think if we get two pallets I might be willing to entertain a winter buy.

When it sits open for awhile people forget or back out and it causes issues. If you can find 10+ bags we can open one, but until we have that interest its just tough.

Ok so PITA

They are asking us to pull a total of 4 bags for the weight of the chemicals... total B.S.

Here is my thought. do you want to shoot for some more bags and set a time limit?

i.e. Rust gets his bag back and Mparsons327, and anyone else can add on bags and we will get a second pallet. shipping cost would be a little less than double (only one lift gate fee ($75).

So we stall the order for a set time, say 2-4 weeks and see how much more grain we can pile on the second pallet.

I know this is a PITA, but I guess we are learning why the chemicals are a pain. All in all this may put the cost lower on a few things. We still have a lot of near complete splits to jack up the pallet if people participate in them. I am thinking we might be able to add on 15 bags or so.

What are peoples thoughts?

If we can get this done before the snow really starts flying, I'm ok with it. That's my only concern.

Yes it does sound like BS given that 4 gallons of Star San would be about 32 pounds (which is less than a sack of grains) and by definition the 50 # of PBW is same/less than a sack of grains.

I'm ok with whatever you decide. While I could use those specialty grains, I'm not relishing a trip to Rochester and back just for this so if this gets closer to Christmas I might be able to combine my pickup with a trip to Pittsburgh to visit family.

Dont forget its 8 gallons of pbw at about 7.25lbs per gallon. So call it 58 pounds, i could see having to loose 3 sacks overall for the chem. But 5 total, no way. Although they may have a standard dimension yhey use and if it exceeds it thats the issue. No biggie im game for whenever.

ORDER REOPENED TO CLAIM A SECOND PALLET

If people are game, lets stall the order until for another 1-2 weeks.

Here is the plan
1. In the next 1-2 weeks we have to get 15-20 bags at a minimum on the next pallet. If we get less than that we will have to lose 3 more bags from rusts to make the order go through.

Tell your buddies and try to buy up what you need to last through until spring.

Hit it guys, spread the word and let's try to get that pallet filled.

Mparsons327
I have you down for the 2row - let me know on the splits

I hope I didn't mislead anyone by my post! I'm in no way ready for more bags at this point... Ok, I could prolly squeeze in one more, I was projecting in the Feb, march months.
How many more bags are you looking for? 42 more?

Start a 1/5 split roast barley for me

jhenderson - can I make this 1/3 and you and twogunz split the difference between each other? It is really tough to manage these splits when we get 1/3; 1/3; 1/5 etc. Twogunz said he will buy up your share, I just prefer not to have to do the math :cross:

** disregard - this one didn't work out too bad.

we are shooting for at least 57. That should get teh shipping price per bag down a bit for some more reasonable pricing. this way everyone gets their cake and eats it too.

Even 1 more bag would help the cause. Shall I put you down?

FYI - to help the cause I will close out the carapils (BZ-CRPL) if no one else wants it in the next couple days. I have been using that stuff quite a bit.

To be fair I will let others have at it until we are in need to close it.

That puts us at 7 bags already - minimum 8 more to go, but any above and beyond that make the shipping cheaper per bag.

STOCK UP LADS!

Cidah

Ahhhh what the hell... put me in for 1x CM‐MUNH as well.

Also put me in for 1/3 of the CM‐WHET split that is already open. So there will be 1 more opening on the CM‐WHET, anyone want to step up to close this? Would rather not go 1/2 on this but if it comes down to it, I would.

Cidah, you lost me. I'm actually not following what happened with either the brown split or RB split. Doing splits and then working side ones is too much for my head. I rather negotiate different even percentages or not do it. Not to be a PITA

I think what he did was still a 3 way split, just the % per person isn't the same. See on post 2 for the percentage. It shouldnt be too bad to do, as I'll be most likely picking up your split anyways.

This correct Cidah?

Jeff has it right.

Basically I have you down for a .47 share on the RSTB ; so if the bag is a 55lber you would simply multiply .47 * 55 = 25.85lbs

While this makes the splits more confusing on pick up; people just better to remember to get the right about of the split.

As for the brown I have you down at 1/3 so not sure about the confusion there.

In general to all the participants, post #2 is fully up to date. - if you guys see an error let me know.

Keep those bags coming!!!!

I'd be willing to go from my current 1/2 BD-VIEN to a full sack if someone out there was willing to take my split.

I will also post later (when I get home) my current inventory and existing splits and ask for suggestions for additional things I should consider. :) Especially as this looks like it might turn into the last buy for a while.

Ah what the hell... again! Haha... Copyright1997, I'll take your 1/2 BD-VIEN split to help the cause!

Cidah, sign me up for this.

Thanks!
