This delivery will be the last? Once arrived let's all post a cheers and the beer we are drinking in honors of this great trade!

It really takes a special kind of person to go out and spend 100+ bux on a box of beer only to ship across the United States!

Almost - mine should be landing today as well but isn't there still one the got lost in transit?

I do have a few ideas for the next round. One was keeping it really small. 3 bombers or so. I know some have said due to xmas they are not going to join a big, expensive swap (potentially myself included...). So this would help with that.

Yeah, after I posted that I wouldn't participate in the next round I got thinking about it and it made me sad to skip out. I think it'd be cool to treat it as a kind of secret santa type thing with just a few winter/christmas beers, maybe not even specifically local, but just some that you personally love.

Orrr......I depending what people think, perhaps a one bottle swap. Limited to one day, brewery only releases...people kind of have to have the beer or not before joining it would seem. Determining what is acceptable might be dicey, but it could work. It is the holidays, so this might be a fun idea.

Also, extras would certainly be okay!

One other idea...no swap for december. Then a fairly large one in january haha...to make up for the missed swap.

That would be a tough one.

I was going to PM you with a swap idea but since it's now going on in the thread I submit this idea for the January swap:

Brewery Pride Swap

Share an entire local brewery line (or 1/2 the swap total whatever size it is deemed) from the brewery closest to you that is your favorite. The other half of the trade would be local only beers and minimum one homebrew. I added this because I regret not sending one to AbsolutHamm in my trade. :(

Obviously the idea is subject to interpretation and revision. Thoughts?

I think this is a great idea. It is what I envisioned from the start.

My original swap idea was breweries within x miles of you are all thats acceptable to ship. I got some negative feedback though and changed it. I do, however, think that since we have done five swaps already that members would be more open to it.

I like the idea of a small swap - maybe make it sort of secret santa themed by having everyone put up their favorite style(s) when they sign up so the sender can personalize the box as best as possible?

a small sour only swap? If its potentially small and low participation...why not go sour too?

Just my 2c

I worry that it might trim down the already low participation haha...I myself would be up for a small swap. But if it was sours, I have no local sours handy so I would sit out.

I like that. I also regret not sending pmcint01 one of my barleywines as well, but I had it hidden so well to try to not tempt myself until the week my daughter is born in March that I completely forgot about it. That's the only thing I've bottled in a long time.

Don't think they have Great south bay, oyster bay, barrier, Montauk, black forest, port jeff, and singlecut either

Only ones that should be on are GSB, Port Jeff, Spider bite and Long Ireland since they are the only ones that bottle. You cant find brickhouse, john Harvard or black forest outside of there establishments also.

Just need to hit Montauk brewing to hit all the breweries on the island lol, while more are forming by the month!

This sounds like a great idea. Wont be able to get in on the December swap but for sure the next one after that.

Maybe I could start another swap thread for a Secret Santa Sour Swap. Would anyone be interested in a small variant on the swap-o-rama?

Not trying to step on the toes of TheMan or diminish the swap-o-rama in any way, but it seems there is a small contingent willing to do a sour swap but the idea is too niche for inclusion in the official swap-o--rama.

I am not bothered by that at all. Feel free to arrange that as you like! I think a sour round would be awesome. But collecting 20-25 members (what ive aimed for each round) to participate sounds a bit tough. So a smaller sour focused swap would scratch some itches for sure haha.

Heck, I hope you can prove me wrong and get 20 people to join in!

I myself can only think of the few berliner weiss beers from pipeworks that are local but not around anymore...wish I could join a sour one lol

I don't think the sour round needs to be local as much as not distributed to the target. That would be my aim. I would love a sour round but can't really ship anymore until January.

Yeah, but the rest of the sours are covered under Shelton brothers. Just about every state gets their distribution.

At least, I dont know of any other sours I can get besides that.

Yeah, I would like to do something with a few bottles of local (or regional) sours, and maybe throw in another bottle that you a partial to that might be a wider distribution. But I wouldn't necessarily limit it to that. I don't buy a ton of sours because they are cost prohibitive and I have to drive to the few stores in town that will have them. So, even if I got a couple Jolly Pumpkins that I can buy in Ohio, I would be happy.

DrPhunk this an amazing box!!! Thank you so much! I'll post the breakdown in a few but for now here's the beer porn!

Holy crap! I think pmcint01 was trying to throw out my back with this one. The poor ladies working at my apartments office gave me some dirty looks when I just smiled at them when told me how heavy the box was. Alright here's the long list starting at the top L-R (with GABF rankings that were on a note in the box):

Bruery - Saison Rue
Iron Hill - Russian Imperial Stout (GABF silver)
Alesmith - Speedway Stout
Weyerbach - Double Simcoe
Yards - Grad Cru
Troegs - Mad Elf
Maine Beer Co - Mo
Maine Beer Co - Peeper Ale
Troeg's - Nugget Nectar x2
Fegley's Brewworks - Hop Explosion
Ithaca - Flower Power
Russian River - Sanctification (GABF Silver)
New Holland - Dragon's Milk
Troeg's - Perpetual IPA
Yards - Brawler (GABF Silver)
Yards - Poor Richard's Tavern Spruce (GABF Bronze)
Troeg's - Troegenator (GABF Gold)
Allagash - White
Cigar City - Maduro x 2
Cigar City - Jai Alai
Sly Fox - Grisett (GABF Silver)

Extras - Tastykake PB Kandy Kakes and Butterscotch Krimpets

My hands hurt from typing all that. Paul - I can't thank you enough. What an amazing box - so many big wants, so many beers I've never heard of I can't wait to try. You sir have made my week - nothing can get me down after opening this box.

Now to start digging into those IPA's.

Wow, so many awesome packages this round. Everybody really stepped their game up. It seems like the packages just keep getting bigger after every round. Makes me excited for the next one.
