Surface rust on Corny Lids

Hey everyone I just scored a couple of used corny lids which have a this coating of rust pretty well covering the whole lid. What is the easiest (read laziest) way to get rid of it? Can I just soak it in something? About all I have is oxyclean and StarSan.

Starsan and oxyclean will not remove rust.
Passivisation is the best method, but you can use a stainless scrubby to remove the rust.
You may have to do this a few times until you've eliminated all the rust, but it's simpler than the previous mentioned method.
