hi guys I'am new to brewing and still currently fermenting my first beer which is a Irish red ale. But, I plan on brewing something new once I move to bottling. Recently I went to dinner with my girlfriend and I tried the Sam Adams summer ale. Needless to say I drank a number of them :tank: the beer was so refreshing and crisp with a hint of lemon. Anyway I was wondering if anybody can recommend a kit or recipe that would taste somewhat like this???
I plan on enjoying this all day once the weather is nice and i can sit outside and drink it :D

You can get that hint of lemon from Sorachi Ace hops. Brew a basic APA with Sorachi Ace hop additions, and you'll have a light, refreshing ale with the hint of lemon. Are you an extract brewer or AG? Do you have lagering abilities, or do you need to stick to an ale?

Is that summer ale the wheat beer, right? Check into some American wheat beer kits from Northern brewer and places like that. A little freshly crushed coriander might Give the lemony zip you're after. Cheers!

Also keep in mind, lagering during the summer means you're paying to refrigerate liquid during the hottest months of the year.

+1 on Sorachi Ace, American Wheat, Wheat Pale, Blonde, Cream, etc

It might of been a wheat beer I don't remeber if it was a wheat beer or lager due to enjoying it so much :tank:. No I have not done any experience with lager yet I am still working on my first ever beer which is an ale. but, I will look into the wheat beer kits from northern brewer as well as best summer ale where did you get that Pigman? TyTanium what do you mean refrigeration liquid? I plan on storing my beer in my basement it is usually pretty cold in there during the summer months is that what your suggesting as far as keeping the beer cold?

Lagers need to be fermented very cool while ales can ferment in the 60s. It takes a spare fridge, a way to keep the temps in the 50s, and some extra know-how to make lagers work. Ales are much simpler to work with.

You also need a freezer and temp controller to lager in the hot months. But its worth the investment for a ferm chamber in the winter

Yeah, the fermenting should be done in the 50s while the actual lagering phase should be done in the 30s. You could look into doing a Kolsh or California Common if you want that crisp taste without all the lagering work. Those are both achievable without a fridge if you ask me. And they are great summer beers.

Sam Summer Ale is well, an Ale. No need to lager. It is a wheat ale so you would need some malted wheat, lemon peel (unless you go the hop route mentioned above) and some grains of paradise - pretty sure that is in there though I'm not sure how much. Ferment it at ale temperatures and then you could put it in your basement for about a week to "cold crash" it if you so desire.
