I am about to start using Bru n Water software for my water additions, my query is that I will be using RO water. I know how to input this but when gathering my sparge water I all ways add extra in case I need to liquor back. Now this liquor back water doesn’t need treating. Thus my query do I need to include my strike water in the software or can I just add mash and batch amounts. Hope Martin sees this and can advise.

fwiw, I've been using the paid version of Bru'nWater for years, and use RO water for ten gallon batches (typically 11 gallons to the fermentors). I split the water additions and salts between mash and sparge, with the mash water volume as specified by Beersmith3, but the sparge volume is always more than required because my hlt needs 12 gallons to fully cover the herms coil. I treat the full 12 gallons with salts and enough acid (usually just one milliliter of 25% PA) per Bru'nWater to ensure end-of-runnings pH stays below 5.6.

Here's an example of a water adjustment page...

Cheers!

As already pointed out, the mashing water volume has to be entered at a minimum. It may not be necessary to input the sparging water volume if there isn't a separate sparging step.

There are differences between the free version of Bru'n Water and the Supporter's version. With respect to mineral and acid additions, the Supporter's version includes options to add salts to: the mash and sparge, just the mash, or to the kettle. The free version is simplified and doesn't have anything except adding to mash and sparge.
