I have a keg (pin lock) in my fridge right now that is presenting me with a problem I haven't run into before. When there is no liquid disconnect on the post, everything is fine. The keg holds pressure, and there are no liquid or gas leaks.

When I attach the liquid disconnect, however, I get a pretty substantial leak that appears to be coming from between the post and the disconnect. When I remove the disconnect, everything is fine again.

I have replaced the liquid disconnect. I have replaced the poppet. I replaced the dip tube o-ring. I also replaced the o-ring on the post itself. None of those seemed to have helped.

Any suggestions?

Are you sure that the center pin in the disconnect is properly seated on the poppet? Is it fully engaged? The symptoms you describe call out that there is a pin engagement issue.

No, I suppose I'm not sure of that. I'm not sure how to remedy that, though, given that I've already tried replacing the poppet and disconnect. Is it possible the poppet is seated in a way that isn't allowing proper engagement? I suppose I can try taking the post off and re-seating the poppet again.

If the keg post O-ring is the right size and undamaged it matters not what the post poppet or the QD plunger are doing - or are even there.
They could be totally missing and there shouldn't be a leak - that's what the O-ring is for...

Cheers!

Are there different size post o-rings?

Did you try lubing the O-ring in the post?

I did not--I should probably try that next.

I lubed the hell out of the post o-ring this weekend and tried again--still leaking. Not only that, but I tapped a different keg this weekend and had the exact same leak on that one. I don't get it--I've used these kegs and disconnects before, and never had any issues.

I guess I can try to order some of those fatter pin lock o-rings, but I don't understand why this is just now becoming a problem.

If you are going that far, I'd get New posts and New disconnects while ordering.
