Still fairly new to brewing but last two batches have both stopped at 1.030. The first one was a 10.68 stout with northwest ale wyeast 1332 w/ starter and the second is a 1.065 Ipa with yeast from the local brewery. Any ideas?

Yeah i aerated the wort, I'm using a refractometer that works good. The stout tastes ok but has a little fruity/ bananna smell to it. The ipa is still in the primary. It has been a week and the first 3 days was the most rapid fermentation i have ever had.

dont know about the stout, but the IPA should drop more over the next week ... I'd check it again in a week and if it hasn't, there are plenty of threads on how to get a beer going again that has stalled ... maybe just brew a light pale as soon as you can just in case you need to rack the IPA onto that cake to get it going ??? ... just some thoughts ... I am fairly new, but I do read a lot on here ... good luck !!

Yeah that sounds like that was my problem. Thanks for the help guys. Gonna start using a hydrometer for F.G. readings.
