Stop-gap fix for leaking liquid out post

Hey all,

I've got a new-to-me Firestone Challenger VI keg. I pressurized it and sprayed with star-san. I've got little bubbles coming from the top of the liquid out post. I tried to get the poppet out, but it doesn't come easily and I'm afraid to pull too hard in case I damage it.

I couldn't find a replacement post online (can you get them anywhere except chicompany.net?)

Here's my question, if I leave the fitting on the beer-out post with a cobra-tap, will that stop the leak?

Does anyone have experience removing/replacing poppets on challenger VI kegs?

As I recall those have short legs, so it would just be a matter of putting the post on a flat surface and pushing the poppet down with a small screwdriver or chopstick. You might just put a bit of keg lube on the rubber gasket part of the poppet and see if that works, or sometimes it is not seated straight.

If you take the post off and look closely, you should see the three poppet legs are up on a "ledge", which is why you can't just push the poppet out. You can gently pop the legs off the ledge with a small tool, clean and lube it, then reinstall the poppet and push the legs back up on the ledge...

I just re-tested it. Looks like it's working now. I'm still interested in getting replacement posts and poppets, though. The ones on there are a little dinged up and I think they're original. I have a beer ready for kegging in a couple days and when I thought my keg was fubared, I panicked.
