You can sell me gasoline, even if the oil required to produce it necessitates a costly, deadly and disastrous US foreign policy.
You can sell me clothes, even if it was produced by Bangladashi children in sweatshop, death-trap factories.
You can sell me bacon cheeseburgers, even if the animals the ingredients came from were forced to endure lives of torture and endless suffering.
But if you are a big craft brewery with a tacky crowd sourcing campaign, I will never buy your belgo anus imperial stout.
You have to draw the line somewhere. We, as human beings, are moral creatures after all.

Out of sight, out of mind.

Yeah I don't see why you would boycott Stone. I think the campaign is stupid and insulting, but I'll still buy their beer if/when I want to.

What if Jean Van Roy did this? Indiegogo's and Expedia's servers would probably crash

There's a new video from Greg Koch on Stone's Facebook page. I don't know how to share it here because I'm stupid.
Wow, they're dropping the price from $50 to $30, and if you already pre-ordered for $50, you get 2 magnums. And they acknowledge that this isn't for funding the Berlin brewery. The day you pick it up, you get treated like "Team Stone," meaning employee discounts on retail merch. 50% off at the brewery.

This is a strong signal that the initial launch of this thing was tanking.

They also announced "Special Magic Wootstout" as the next collaboration.

He sounds and looks like an even bigger ****** in that followup video.

Greg: be yourself. Lose the act. I can't imagine that's the "real you". The wanna be Doc from Back to the Future?

Much as I've never been a particular fan, I think his strident advocacy suited the times well in the noughties and definitely helped raise the profile of good beer.

It makes this descent into irredeemably sordid money-grabbing all the more depressing.

SIAP. Looks like free tail is having a little fun with crowd funding

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/freetail-delivery-lambo

This is incredible. Especially this part:
  • If we vastly exceed our funding goal, we will buy multiple Lambos or maybe a delivery yacht. We won't use any of the proceeds to fund brewery expansion. We'll pay for all that on our own, because it seems kinda weird for a successful for-profit business to crowdfund an expansion.

I hope they get that delivery yacht! They can sail from San Antonio to San Francisco, dock, then drive their beer to me via Lambo!

I'd like to chip off $10k and have the license plate read, "STNBH8N"...
