My brother and I brewed a stone pale ale clone, recipe straight from the Stone book, and we ran into a few problems.
This is out first AG. First problem, which we always encountered with extract too, is that the color is extremely dark. It almost looks like a brown ale. Why are all of our brews so dark??
As far as taste, I'm getting a very sweet licorice flavor. Very malty with little to no hop. Our measurements during the boil were very precise. What could account for this?
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
