So this Tuesday I close with the bank. :ban: Then Wednesday I'll be putting in my equipment orders, getting the contractor in and starting work on the building. This has been so long coming I'm still in a state of disbelief.

Pics SOOOOOON!!!!

Still no pictures, sorry.

Plumbing and HVAC work will start with the new year. I placed my order with Portland Kettle Works for the bulk of my brewing setup. That will be finalized and started by the end of the week.

Happy Holidays yall!

Jason

A bit has been done since I last posted. I have been approved by the state!:ban: Just need to get the place finished, inspected, and a few minor pieces of paper work and I'll be licensed. That is still looking to be at least another month or so away.

We figure to be selling brews by late April early May.:tank:

And here are some pictures of progress. A little behind as some of the dry wall is now up and the plumbers are in cutting trenches in the floor for the brewhouse trench drain and the bar sink drain. What a mess right now.

This picture is taken later as the electrician had been in and the lights now operated as we needed and off of actual switches. Previously you had to turn them on/off via the breaker panel. OI VEY!

I've ordered all the taps and faucets for the wall that will go where you see my daughter standing in the cooler. The bar will be right in front of that. On the left side of the second photo you can see the three bin bar sink standing where it will be located.

More coming as things happen. Stay tuned:D

Oh I'm brewing this weekend. Just not at the scale I will be:D. I'm making a run one more time through the starting line up at home. My Pale may have to change as Citra is going to be tough to get this year, but I have enough left for what I need now.

So Pale this weekend, IPA next, Heffe and then the Chocolate porter. I made a Stout back in Dec to clear out the old grains, but I didn't have the yeast on hand that I will be using. Its good, just not what I want to sell to the public. I need to stop drinking it all though. I need something to bribe workers with:cross:

Long stretch between posts. So update time. I should of had the majority of my equipment in already but a manufacturing snafu delayed things. Should have it by the end of this month.

I have gotten all the random bits, half of the kegs I need, bottler, and my four smaller fermentors arrive tomorrow morning.

Progress pics! I'll get more tonight as more has been done.

OK here's a pic of the bar top. The internet is sucking balls tonight.

Ok I owe you a bunch of pictures. Or I you don't want to wait just look up our facebook page, not the profile, but the page. Look for Brickside Brewery. I've got a few of our finished labels up on there. Our Fine Day Pale label just got approved yesterday.:ban:

That's looking great man! All your hard work (and updates!) is much appreciated even by a guy who doesn't make it to Michigan too often! When you get a minute to relax and have the inclination I know I'd love to hear more about your setup, as I'm not familiar with either your tank guys or your brew-system fabricator. Congrats on the label too, that's very nice.

This is to be probably my last post before opening!! The brewhouse and brite tank are on their way and everything else is pretty much in place. All the legal and licensing is done, except for getting my proof of Liquor Liability to the state, so that mountain has been cleared.

I'm placing my grain/hop/yeast order tomorrow and getting all the little things ironed out over the next few days. Ok more like few months, but what the hell, this is going to be a ride.

In all this has been the most trying, tiring, frustrating, complicated thing I have ever done in my life. By far. Is it all worth it? Hell yes :rockin:

Nearly there pictures.

Not only was the brew station back ordered, so are the chairs! Chairs - coming to us some time next week. :drunk:

When all is up and going I'll get a video up of the brewery.

PROST!!!!!

The brew house is a 3bbl, so are all the tanks in the above picture. I have another 2 7bbl fermenters coming and the brite tank is a 7bbl as well. Which ever styles become the best sellers I plan on brewing those twice a day so I can knock out more for distributuion.

I'm finally headed up to Cu Harbor today. Are you going to be pouring today? Or hanging at the brewery? I'm looking forward to trying your beers.

I'll find a bottle or two of my brew to bring for ya. Also, let me know when you're in Houghton; if I'm around, you're welcome to stop by for some tap beer.

Cheers,
Erik

It was great to meet you Erik, sorry if I seemed a little spaced, its been a busy few weeks. Thanks again for the brews, I'll be sharing those with the wife tonight!

I'll for sure take you up on that offer of stopping by for a beer at your place next time I'm down your way.

Almost 2 months since we opened the doors to the public, to say I've been busy is an understatement. I really need to get some current photos of the place up on here and elsewhere. I'll give it a try come this Wednesday when I get some evening time off when I have a friend in here that tends bar.

Oh the ups and downs of opening/running a new brewery. :D

Good meeting you as well. I thought your beers were pretty good, especially your brown porter! Let me know when you're in Houghton and need a free beer.
