STC1000+ 2nd probe causing alarm

I modified one of my STC1000 units to enable the 2nd probe. I soldered the micro resistor and added a 3 port post. I flashed with STC1000+ with the dual probe version. I connected a 2nd known-good probe to pin 4 and the new pin of the STC. When I enable the 2nd probe (Pb2 = 1) I immediately get an alarm (AL) which won't go away until I disable Pb2. What could be wrong?

Check your wiring- I think the alarm indicates that the probe is not connected.

I checked the wiring which was OK but I wasn't getting an ohm reading when I checked across the two screw terminals for the 2nd probe. I re-soldered the screw post to the board which fixed the problem.
