Woke up this morning to transfer my Belgian Pale ale to a keg and my keezer was at 45c. Sometime between Fri. night and this morning my heat lamp never shut off when bringing it up to temp. This morning both circuits were on while the stc was only calling for cooling. I have had the stc for about two years and this has never happened before. For some reason the heat cycle never shut off when temp was reached. When i have nothing on tap i use my keezer as a ferm chamber. Took apart stc enclosure and found nothing wrong. thankfully i was just dry hopping and the beer was not in active fermentation so it should be ok. Anybody else ever have this happen?

Nope, and I have had mine in use now for 4 years.

I was going to suggest, but you already took it apart just un plugging it and plugging it back in to see if it resets itself.

left it unplugged for a while. Hooked everything back up all seems to be functioning correctly now. Still dont know why heat circuit never tripped off when came up to temp..Have to keep an eye on it now.

My STC did something similar. last Spring. Had it controlling my ferm freezer, and went to check on 10gal in a bucket and a Speidel, both in secondary. I hadn't checked them for a couple weeks, and was ready to keg. Walked downstairs and saw the temp was at 20-something degrees (on the STC). Both batches were frozen solid. The only thing I can think of is that we had a spike./power outage, and they reset. I wasn't aware of an outage, and my wife said she didn't remember resetting any of the clocks, etc.

Also, the digital readout on my unit has been messed up from the very beginning. i should have sent it back, but didn't. the numbers don't display correctly, so I have to be careful when programming it.

It's made me a bit leary of going the same route for my keezer build, underway now.

Can one of you guys send me a pic of the units (stc-1000) you are using for these builds?? On amazon their are a ton,, I am figuring on a dual stage for heat / cool. Really appreciate any help.
