I am trying to figure out how to wire up my stc-1000. I am using an old computer cord for the main power supply, but am confused about the wiring. I was expecting black, white and green, but what is this bare wire?

Doesn't do anything, it's probably cloth.

Green is ground. You can confirm with a continuity tester.

It's a form of "shielding" wire.........Was it wrapped around the other three when you stripped back the outer sheath?

Edit: That, or a "trace" wire, to help find a circuit in a bundle of wires.

Should not be hooked up at the "plug" end, if you only have three prongs there.

But I say shielding, for cutting down on electrical interference.
