Northern Brewer is running a deal where if you spend $150 you get a free stainless wort chiller. I was already planning on buying this as I will be brewing outside:

And this was actually the wort chiller I was looking at....

I don't know what to spend $30 more on though... Anyone have any ideas? I can't really spend over $150 ATM. And my uncle will be bringing me most of his basic homebrew stuff (fermentor siphon etc etc ).

Ended up making up the $30 difference with some Star-San a stirring spoon and Campden tablets, all items I had on a list to get anyways. Still haven't ordered yet checking your alls opinions first.

Those are all good things. So do you have ingredients? Hydrometer?

My uncle will be bringing me most of that stuff, the only time he brewed beer was when I was down there and my aunt wants it out of the house so I'll be getting his basic kit that had a hydrometer carboy buckets etc...It will be a few months till I brew so I don't want to buy ingredients due to moving (The reason I'm brewing is I'll now have room to do it once I move).

I have the Dark Star and the Tall Boy - both have been great and I've had them for about 15 or so brews now. Just be careful, if if you got the 8-gallon Tall Boy (which is what I have) when adding hops - there is not a lot of extra space if you're doing 6 gallons for a 5-gallon batch (you'll lose about a gallon to evaporation during the boil). I only drop in a few hop pellets at a time. I learned the hard way, on the first time I used that setup, which resulted in a boil over. Other than that, the kettle and the Dark Star work great! Enjoy.

Great to hear! And thanks for the tip I'll be sure to keep that in mind.
