What is the DME / Water ratio for large starters?

I recently did a lager and MrMalty called fr a 1.5L starter.

I know you are trying to achieve 1.040 and normally that is 1qt.(1L) H2O to 1/2 cup of DME. Can I safely double, triple and so on and it will stay at 1.040?

I do it all the time. As long as the ratio stays the same, the gravity should be the same as well.

So to double it you just add another quart of water and a 1/2 cup DME and to double it after that is 2qts water and another cup of DME?
