should you make a starter according to the ale and lager temps for fermenting?

This is pure speculation but,
I like to do a lager starter at lager temp. This is b/c I think that the metabolic pathways of the yeast may need to shift when you switch to a lower temp, this may only mean that you get a little delay before your start.
Of course this will mean that your starter needs more time to reach a critical cell density.
