I did a search for this, and it seems as if no one directly addressed this question...

how long is too long to have a starter in the fridge that is covered with foil?

I usually chill 18-24 hours, decant, warm, pitch. This time, real life won, and now it's been in the fridge for 72 hours.

Should I worry?

I haven't personally left on in the fridge for an extended period of time but I have read the same advice as above... even heard of people leaving it in there for multiple weeks... just remember that the viability of the yeast will decrease a couple of percent (two to three) a week
