I was excited to try our Star san. I used IO star for my first brew and bottling sterilizations. I thought it would be better because I wouldn't have to think about the staining that comes from the Iodine. One thing that Star san has that IO star doesn't is that slippery film. I really didn't like the film that Star san left on my stuff, it really made it difficult to get my tubing on.

I did by a 8oz bottle but I may go back to IO star after that is done.

"Don't fear the film"

It's actually there for a good reason, but I understand it can affect things like marginally-fitting stoppers and the like.
I'd say if you give yourself time to get used to using it you'll appreciate not having things turning brown ;)

Cheers!
