ssr and heat sink

Got the ssr and heatsink from Auber interments. The heat sink is black, do I need to scrap the black from the heatsink before attaching the ssr with thermal compound? Or just put the compound on the ssr and just attach it as is?

I attached as is since it was just conducting heat. Glad you're using the thermal paste!

having built a few computers I understand why I would use Thermal past.

its anodized aluminum and the black finish actually has an advantage over bare aluminum here..
